This is laughably ridiculous as a 5-minute browse through many of these “artist”’s profiles show that they fail to grasp even the most basic concepts of graphic art. Let’s look at them, shall we?

How to not completely fail at an endeavor in Graphic Art
What, you think you're any better than any of these gents and ladies? Well if you, too, want to make an endeavor into this low paying career, first you'll need:
1. Some sort of artistic talent in the least. Seriously, as long as you can draw a straight line with a ruler, you're set.
2. To go to a college that implements the rare bricks and mortar institution.
3. To create a portfolio comprised of things anyone might actually want to pay you money for.
4. Ideas that have only been used several times instead of ones inspired by that commercial you saw during the Super Bowl.
5. The ability to use photoshop past shitty coloring, lens flares and blurring.

At first glance, deviantART appears to be an inspiring treasure-trove of wishful-thinking fanart and pseudo-professional "artwork."
In reality, it is one of many gigantic culture-fucks of societal degeneration.
While similar establishments like MTV destroy music by motivating the public to become wiggers and prostatots, devianTART destroys the art world by fulfilling its function of turning out furry drama whores and emo attention whores. If the art community as a whole had cancer, then devianTART would be the biggest malignant tumor of them all.
devianTART's population consists mainly of emotionally-unstable artists who aspire to move to Japan and become famous manga artists but instead they end up as Cosplay enthusiasts that earn a living off the Harajuku by exchanging odd jobs for food in the back alleys behind the clothing stores.

"I must say, this is a striking image. It possesses such a bright, color-rich atmosphere and I just can't take my eyes off of it. However, I think you could have invested more time in defining the proportions during the early stages of the work because one of the girl's hands appears slightly larger than the other, even though it's further away. You may also want to consider the placement of light sources in the picture before applying the shading. While the light really brings it to life, it's coming from the wrong direction. Setting that aside, I think it's a beautiful picture. Keep up with the good work!"
