We were having our typical high-brow conversation in IRC and the topic of IQ came up. So we looked up a MENSA practice test and decided to have a go.

You have 30 minutes. We're on the honor system here.

http://www.mensa.org/workout2.php

<@DanielMay> Your score was 21 out of 30. That is a very good score—you would have a good chance of passing the Mensa test.
<jcrlover> Your score was 28 out of 30. That is an excellent score—you would have a very strong chance of passing the Mensa test and joining Mensa.
<LaserWave> Your score was 24 out of 30. That is a very good score—you would have a good chance of passing the Mensa test.
<Missy> 25/30

Just curious how everyone would do.

What reason did you have to quit/drop out?

Just curious.

Do they lower their standards in an attempt to harvest more members?

I never did anything with it, so there was no point :p

I have no idea about their standards.

Yay.. I always seem to test pretty well, even when I don't know what the fuck is going on. That's the only way I passed my pharmacy technician test.
"Your score was 25 out of 30. That is a very good score—you would have a good chance of passing the Mensa test.
I honestly find tests like this to be frustrating. I'm big enough to admit I find the questions misleading, and I'm not very good with numbers.
I am a college dropout for a reason. I have a lazy brain.
Also I don't think listening to Cheap Trick while taking a test is very helpful.

25/30 lol

It's the patterns that fuck me up. Take number 30 for example, no idea wtf that was.

And unscrambling banalities (never saw that word used before)

And the boxes

To be fair, MENSA doesn't test intellect to it's full capablitiy. I mean sure it can test problem solving and simple equasions, but more advanced intellect like rational thinking, compromising, etc are hard/impossible to test for. That's why people with high IQ's are usually book smart, but have little or no practical imput.

Btw, only got such a high score through lucky guess. And what the fuck, banalities, wth is this shit?

plural of banality

-Something that is trite, obvious, or predictable; a commonplace

I agree that was a random fuck word, though.

I get a headache from looking at the questions. The first question sounds like the fuzzy wuzzy thing?

Your score was 17 out of 30. That score is a little low, but it is always possible that you could pass the Mensa test.

At least they add encouragement. To be fair I put as little effort into each question as I possibly could.

Please note that the Mensa Workout is NOT the official Mensa test, and your score will not qualify or disqualify you for membership.

I can always whiz past those logic questions, its the english (punctuation etc.) crap that gets me every time. Got the following wrong:

POST. POSTcard POSTbox POSTcode POSTbag POSThaste.

First time I've ever heard of posthaste. Guessed gift.

Took about 10 minutes on the parachute question, plus I'de already heard of the insatiable question before, does that count as cheating? :p

Mensa Workout
(30 Questions)
You scored 29 / 30

Fucking circle question. If a circle is 1, how many is an octagon? So many right answers. I thought it had to do with folding, not lines.
