I find that song to be simply "above average." I don't think they're necessarily the voice of a generation.

Sublime is an amazing band and I loved them way before I started smoking weed. However, there are bands that make a living off of potheads and stoners.

Don't expect too much and don't let your imagination overpower your reason.

It's a very mild psychoactive there's really no warnings except for don't spend all your cash on food, you aren't really hungry.

Things not to do to look like a total douche? I always think it's funny when someone who has never smoked or doesn't very often chokes or coughs while taking a hit and blows the weed out of the bowl.

All in all it's not really that altering or dramatic of an experience to need planning.

Don't feel peer pressured to try it..Make the choice on your own.

Also for first timers..You gotta actually inhale...Bill Clinton lies.

Your going to cough no matter what just take small hits out of a bong/pipe or joint/blunt.

no the food is excellent but beware..Food is way stronger than smoking.. Especially a brownie..1 can get you high.

I would suggest either a cookie, brownie, or a rice krispie treat..They are always good.

The amount of THC is higher...Because its used as butter in food...So depending on what the item is it might be like 20 dollars worth of weed or so

Smoking it gives you maybe 12% THC while a bong is a bit higher and the highest is a vaporizer.

I've liked Sublime since before I got into smoking. Their songs are fun to blast in the car (:
My favorite ways to smoke are vaporizers and hookahs. I love hookah bowls, they're so big and mixing the weed with shisha tobacco makes it even more delicious.

It all boils down to personal choice and responsibility.

I've never smoked weed before and doubt if I ever will (I'm about to turn 26 in a couple months, so far so good) but its laws like this that show the federal government has WAY too much power than they should.

For instance, two of my best friends grew up in homes where their parents smoked regularly and the kids even knew about it from a young age. Twenty years later, neither one of those friends smoke weed and one of them hasn't even tried it at all. (As a side note, both of the families are stand up people, they each own their own business so it isn't like they're social rejects or anything.)

Another example; I grew up around a liquor store that my grandparents owned. From the age of five my brother and I would occasionally stay their after school while my parents worked. I have seen some of the worst cases you could imagine. There was one guy who would drive his riding lawnmower up to the store just to get a drink b/c his license was indefinitely suspended and quite a few other people stumble out of the store.

At five years old I clearly saw that something was wrong with these people and that I didn't see people slurring their words and stumbling around Toys R Us or at the grocery store. I only saw those kinds of people at my family's liquor store. So I put it together in my mind that I was gonna stay away from it then.

To this day, neither my older brother nor myself would consider ourselves drinkers. We do it socially, once every 2 or 3 months but other than that we could care less about it even though we could readily get booze if we wanted. I had my first drink at 23 and my brother had his at 25, in case you were wondering.

The appeal of alcohol / drugs and the allure of doing something "BAD" just wasn't there for either of us. We had no interest at all and still don't.

I'm walking proof that if marijuana was legalized we wouldn't turn into a nation of stoners overnight, and I'm sure there are many more people out there like me, and even if they do decide to smoke they would do it responsibly.

Sure, every once in a while we are going to see an irresponsible idiot do something stupid. Drunk driving happens regularly to this day.

But it is a necessary evil for freedom; we shouldn't give up the freedom just because the minority out there is going to abuse it. And by minority I mean people with addictive personalities.

Ah, sweet lady cheeba. I was against weed for like 97% of my childhood because I blamed my families dysfunctional tendancies on it. Little did I know it was the only thing helping xD I think it's funny when people are dead set against it. People usually classify all stoners as lazy and unproductive, but like anything it depends on who gets their hands on it. There are just as many responsible people smoking marijuana out there and utilizing its effects as there are people/teenagers abusing it. And as stated in this thread, it's not nearly as bad as most of the drugs available today. If you were to observe somebody who had been drinking alcohol for thirty days and compare them to a person who has been smoking pot for thirty days.. well, I think you can guess the result. Nobody has ever died from marijuana.

I agree with what Redlion and Frizzle have said in the earlier parts of this post. I've been smoking for about 8 to 9 years now. I can tell you that it should be regulated because just like all substances it can be abused. Am I saying it's bad for you? Certainly there's nothing healthy about inhaling pesticides and fertilizers when you combust plant matter. Butane inhalation is bad as well. To be honest, the Federal Goverment doesn't allow us to test it as well as it should be. There could be something wrong with it, as had been said earlier it's been linked (though in a very jaded and onesided study) to schizophrenia and it can induce panic attacks. THC is a psychoactive, and as reform moves closer and closer and breeders continue to share information, the potency is going to do nothing but increase. CBD can be used for pain relief and there are now breeders growing for CBD production (whereas cannabis nowadays is bred for the Psychoactive chemical THC, the CBD is linked to pain relief and dispensaries are focusing efforts on the medicinal uses).

I think that any cannabis that is not sensi should not be smoked. I understand that reg and middies are great for the price, but I'd rather not spend my money on something that's just going to make me sit on a couch and eat food all day. I pick my cannabis for high THC content and great taste. For me, I use THC as an enhancer. I vape before work not to get high, but to give my body a loose and relaxing feeling while working. I'm not the Subway stoner that's so high that I can't make a sandwich, I prefer to enjoy my highs rather than get stoned.

Looking back on it now, I was certainly stupid in my earlier days. I spent way too much money and wasted way too much of my time. Like Frizzle said, would I rather be productive or non productive? I've learned to make my smoking profitable and I've learned how to incorporate it in a way that doesn't adversely effect my life. I still can't do that with alcohol, so maybe there's something to say in that aspect?

I enjoy sex way too much after a hit or two. I enjoy movies by splitting a joint between friends before we go in. But the best thing I enjoy is knowing that I can go weeks without smoking cannabis and be productive. Knowing that I don't need to sit there and smoke a quarter of dank just so I can pass out from being too high.

Just remember something. Cannabis is a drug. It should be used in moderation. It's not something that should be relied upon and it's not something that you should be wasting your life on.

Man, I don't know about you guys, but I really don't think it should be legalized at all. Two of my friends screwed over this one guy on the basketball team who had a 3.8GPA and was the team's star, and F'd up his life so bad because they pressured him into weed... It's not good guys! :(

What did they do? Blow it in his face while he was sleeping? Hide some in his locker? If they did neither of those things, then he made a decision and he reaps the rewards.

This "F'd up his life" is a side effect of two things:
1. Your friend making an unwise decision
2. WEED BEING ILLEGAL

If it were legal, this wouldn't have been a problem would it?

Think logically about things instead of buying into retarded public opinion.

Also it would be more difficult for high school students to get their hands on if they treated it like cigarettes (yes they still will, but it will be more difficult)

The government can't regulate user responsibility. As of now, it's easier for a kid under the age of 18 to get Marijuana than it is to get Alcohol. Marijuana is a drug, it's a vice. That's been stated. It's up to the responsibility of the individual to do what they want with it, and the responsibility of the government to make sure that the individual responsibility doesn't effect others. Take a look at Alcohol, it's legal and when used in moderation it's fine. It's the individuals that use it irresponsibly that cause the bad things to happen. Remember the prohibition and Al Capone? That's exactly what we're doing now with Federal Marijuana laws and the Mexican Drug Cartel.

Nope he ultimately caved in to peer pressure. The side effects are not that weed is illegal; rather, they are that he is now quitting basketball just to be a pothead.

I'm thinking perfectly logically, so maybe it's your bias that's skewing your perspective of other people's posts.

In this case, then we can remove the whole "Because weed is illegal" from the reasons this is a problem for him.

I was assuming that he had gotten drug tested and cut from the basketball team or something (due to lack of details in your post).

So now we can just hone it all down to "Your friend has poor decision making skills and skewed priorities"

This is the problem with your logic. You'd have to be an idiot to think that any drug will not cause harm to someone when abused. Whether or not it was peer pressure, that person ultimately chose to smoke pot on his own. He can't control his own urges, not because of the drug, but because of his own will. He probably quit basketball because he really didn't enjoy it. It's not the weed, it's lack of own common sense and his parents not raising him right.

I have a friend that I got to smoke pot in High School. He was Valedictorian. He dropped out of college and now is into Horticulture in California. He smokes weed a couple times a week and he says he's never been happier in his entire life. He's doing what he enjoys not what American Sitcoms say that a kid should do.
