just legs? more than likely that was plyometrics... that's one of the toughest of all of them. many different videos focus on many different muscle groups. don't base your bias on one short viewing.


I was so confused which video he was talking about since neither the leg workouts require much flexibility O_o. But I guess those squat variations and heismans in the plyo vids can be though for some people . . .

I actually found plyometrics not that difficult. It was tiring, but I hated the yoga, only because it was so boring and repetitive :p

i dont care for the yoga either, i guess it helps my flexability, but its so boring and loooooong

Yep.
For all the 3 months I did p90 Ive only done yoga twice.
I just dont have the 2 hr time to do it at home with no interruptions.
That and the fact that Im not really a yoga kind of guy.

The yoga part of the p90x was pretty much the main thing that got me into considering using the program since I need flexibility for grappling from the bottom but the yoga video isn't as good as being there live in an actual yoga class due to the lack of a quality instructor.

Yep :). I currently go the pro fight practice and grappling classes at CSW and I recently started boxing at La Habra Boxing Club and I do muay thai at OC Muay Thai . If you're in Cali we should grapple sometime :)

My opinion...weight lifting + cardio > p90x anyday, as long as you have the right diet.

Besides, p90x is really more of a cutting program, so bulking on it doesn't work too well.

bulking is more about calories in vs calories out so if you're eating at a surplus of calories around 1600 more a week you would gain a pound of muscle (studies show that a pound of fat=3500 while muscle=1600 calories based on the fact that 1 g of protein=4 calories and 1g of fat=9 calories). So it is possible to bulk on p90x except it may probably be more difficult. The only thing I don't like about P90X is the fact that it emphasizes high reps of light weights (more of a conditioning workout) vs 4-6 range reps of heavy weights (which helps increase overall strength).

In my opinion, bulking on workouts with high reps (20+) and low weight is slightly more difficult. I feel like bulking is the time where you also put on a load of strength (putting on weight, working with low reps heavy weight), since when you're cutting there's a bit of difficulty maintaining strength.

I've also never heard of someone bulking at 3500 calories over maintenance. I'm pretty sure that bulking at a surplus of 1600 calories will already lead to a high amount of fat gains.

I said 1600 calories more a week not 3500 over maintenance a day. 1600 calories tends to be the number of calories required for a pound of muscle gain. Bulking is what you make of it though. People can bulk on p90x if they choose to but if they also want to increase strength they can go on Rippetoes. Squats and milk is another program that utilizes high reps for bulking.

personally i only used p90x for the "Ab ripper X" because i am by no slouch out of shape. I still ate like regular and just accompanied the ab workout with my normal workouts. I did like the 15 minute video and exercise because it did introduce some creative ab exercises that i haven't attempted before which i did receive great results from. On the other hand, any diet and exercise program which you actually stick to is going to yield excellent results as long as you stick to it. The hardest part is motivation and Tony does a great job motivating but it helps if you do programs with friends or family members to have each other to push you to continue.

My art teacher's husband did this and got quite good results. I was thinking about looking into it. IM not sure yet though. Don't really know what it is. I also have seen a pretty good 16 week exercise plan that i followed for like 7 weeks that worked pretty well for me.

my parents used this, they loved it. dropped weight really fast, but their issue was that they just didnt want to dedicate themselves to it so they quit within a month, and gained it all back. now we own the videos. ive tried it, but it didnt do anything and i wanted fast results, so i made my own plan which was amazing :) ran 3 miles a day every day and ate between 400-1000 cals a day. but this is unhealthy on so many levels... but amazing. now i wont have to diet for a realllllllllllllly long time :)

I have a p90x chin up bar at home. Amazing bar, there's so many grips. Never tried their diet/program since I don't need it but I've only heard good stuff about it.

I just downloaded P90X for my boyfriend, so it's good to know it works! I actually might try to go through it with him after reading your post. I suck at dieting, though :/
