Does he really exsist? Do you believe in him? Post all your comments here

I don't believe in "god" because I have called on him many times before and nothing... he didn't save my uncle when he was dieing and he also killed my grandfather. I see no reason to believe if he won't return the favor

you have called! did you take the time to listen?

I believe that the idea of "God" was created for two (while extremely generalized and sort of vague) reasons:
1. People needed to have moral guidance.
2. People wanted answers to things that their science could not answer.

Well, that makes sense right? I know that it doesn't cover all of religion, or even all religions, but in a quick summarization without taking things to deep, I feel it suits what I'm trying to say.

For the first, all throughout history people have looked to their God(s) for what is socially acceptable. Every civilization had these different morals and dogmas that their God(s) "asked" for.

For the second, if you look back (and now) people have used religion to answer their questions about life. Why are we here? What is after? What makes the world go round? Are we the center of the Universe? Etc. etc.

You think that peopel knew what "moral guidance" ment back in b.c.e?

I'm just curious if anyone read my reply a page back or so.
Also I think that it is funny someone said faith based on fact isn't faith. So with that beingsaid why are you trying to fight fire with fire?

With every person there are motives for what we think, do, or believe, say, etc.

"non-religious people" i.e. Atheists. You motives for "not believing" or rather, believing there is no god is that you have not experienced, seen, or most likely not attempted either of the two.

I believe in the lord Jesus Christ, My Savior. I am by no means a true Christian (meaning I'm not trying everyday to be "more like him" everyday.)

I am a firm believer of Intelligent Design as well as Evolution. I believe we Evolved into what we are today, but I believed we were engineered to do so from whatever form we were how ever many years ago earth is believed to have been discovered, created, Whatever.

I do not deny however that religion does not have all the factual evidence. I don't believe science does either. But I do know that the fact that in the 19th century and earlier that it was bad not to attend service on Sunday. Well, theres nothing that says we have to.

From my experiences I have seen many amazing things that I believe are divine. That means if they are not divine, I experience more coincidences than your average person.

So you are very correct to say that there are no motives for believing in god. But, it is truly in the eyes of the believer. I have a sense of reassurance everyday and as far as I know, it has come through for me on numerous occasions.

So I guess your thinking most motives come from parents passing their beliefs to there children! I will not deny that, my parents told me about this amazing man who will one day return. I believed them, and pursued it all on my own. I've been told not to believe in something just cause my parents told me too. It is more than their persuasion, it is more than my "divine appointments" that I believe are the work of god. It is the pure fact that although science is very amazing and VERY accurate, it to must have flaws. So, ask yourself this, "Do we really, in all complete evidence, without a shadow of a doubt know the true origins of the universe and the earth it self?

If you have the answer to that I will concede to that answer. Will it sway my opinions and beliefs? Most likely not!

Take this reply for what you will!!!

I had no interest in seeing it--seeing as the title told me right away it wasn't for me. Knowing advance that there's going to be blood in the movie makes it easy to avoid, lol

... but what's all this about "I'LL DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE"? Everyone's been saying it lately. wacko.gif

the milkshake is when the guy is refering to how instead of buyin the land he reaches over a sucks the oil from it. he reaches over with his straw and Drinks the milkshake!!! then really the only bood in the movie happens after he says that. at the very end!
