Increase of Clutter in Shops

15 March 2013 - 11:09 PM

So I've been gone from both Neo and Neocodex for quite a while now. Maybe about 8 months or so, had to deal with real life for a while. Apologies for not making a re-introduction thread, but I sort of assumed that nobody remembered me anyway.

Anyway, down to the point of the thread: Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed in the past week or two that I've been back that most general shops seem to have a greatly increased amount of clutter in them than last time I was around. By clutter, I mean non-profitable items that sit in there for long periods of time not getting purchased that fill up empty spots in shops. I had actually tried going back to legit RSing, but noticed that it was so much harder than it used to be. Even if I found a good shop that wasn't totally full at 24 items, they typically were still crowded at 18-23 items. This meant that for each restock, I would have to somehow home in on the few items that popped up that might yield profit among the sea of useless bullshit totally filling my screen. Completely impossible.

This brings me to two questions:

A) Is it just me? Have shops gotten more packed out in the last year or so? Or am I imagining things and have I just forgotten how bad the Neo economy has actually gotten since the early days?

B) If a restock happens when a shop is full, or nearly full, do old items get booted out of the shop to make room for new items, or does just nothing pop up? I ask this, because if I'm right about clutter increasing, it seems the list of shop that are good to AB at, and the list of shops that aren't have changed due to the amount of garbage items sitting there all the time. I used to heavily rely on Spooky Foods for profit, but it's very rare that I see less than 20 junk items sitting there.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to answer my questions or give their own input on this.
