In Topic: free money, anyone?

12 July 2010 - 10:38 PM

damn, this happens only in america, right?
here in europe they would never go as far as this
like for example, nivea's cream against cellulitis doesn't really work, or the danone's actimel to increase your resistance is as good as any yoghurt
but still they don't get sued or anything

Europeans and Australians aren't as litigious as Americans.

In saying that, the UK Consumer Watchdog nailed L'oreal last year for putting fake lashes on Penelope Cruze in an ad for mascara. So companies aren't compleatly off the hook.

But I agree, the beauty industry is far too underregulated.

Not so sure about the food industry. I'm sure it's claims aren't regulated enough, though.

In Topic: Worst Movies Ever

12 July 2010 - 10:33 PM

Battlefield Earth.

So much money thrown at it. It has high-profile actors in it. It's an action movie. How could it be just so bad, so torturously boring?

Oh wait, because it's an adaptation of a Scientology book.

In Topic: Justin Bieber to be extradited to North Korea

12 July 2010 - 10:21 PM

If he went, he'd probably be very safe and the crowds would "adore" him.

And North Korea would use it to rub it in the faces of the international community. Kim Jong Ill may even get get photos with him to show what an "open" nation they are to diplomacy and foreign representatives.

Or North Korea would reject the idea and the trolls would laugh again. Or Bieber's management would reject the idea and give a lame excuse (like when MTV wouldn't give Rick Astley an award despite the huge online votes for him a few years ago).

In Topic: Mephedrone

12 July 2010 - 10:15 PM

ive never heard of it either, but then again im from australia XD

Hrm. Hasn't appeared yet on Border Security from memory...so what does Wikipedia say....

  • Australia: Mephedrone is not specifically listed as prohibited in Australia. Federal Police have stated that it is an analogue to methcathinone and therefore illegal. In February 2010, 22 men were arrested in conjunction with importing mephedrone.[50] In March 2010 a youth was convicted of importing the drug and sentenced to six months alternate detention.[51]

Wikipedia says it's big in the UK, which is why obviously the govt is cracking down hard.

In Topic: Hawk's Testosterone Thread

12 July 2010 - 10:09 PM

I can't believe this thread has been going 21 pages, while the female thread has only 6.

Ah but this is the question....you cannot have your cake and eat it per-say.

Its old woman and good sandwich....or Megan fox and crap sandwich......

(N.B. I do not know anything about Megan fox's sandwich making abilities)

Kudos to you, Georgina. I would be saying the same things as you.

Bitch. Please. I can have whatever I want, and you as a woman cannot stop me.

LOLs
