Meet the guy who writes real world auction snipers

15 February 2017 - 01:24 AM

tl;dw He wrote an auction sniper for car auctions, probably made a few million dollars for his client.

He calls them botnets, but really his programs are not dissimilar to what we use here. Fairly interesting, and this particular presentation isn't that technical. I've been watching a few of these defcon hacker talks, and this guy stood out.

What's new guys?

The Trump Train(wreck) Thread

10 December 2016 - 03:13 AM

Hey guys, instead of making a new thread every time Donald Trump does something ridiculous, or conversely if he manages to do something good, I figured it would keep things neater if I just had one thread.

Here's a list of Trump's cabinet appointments. Nominations rather. Most have to be confirmed by the Senate.
Gen. "Mad Dog" Mattis for Secretary of Defense
Gen. John Kelly for Homeland Security
Gen. Michael Flynn for National Security Advisor
Scott Pruitt (an oil and gas lawyer/lobbyist) for Environmental Protection Agency
Ben Carson for Housing
Betsy DeVos (family owner of Amway, a MLM scheme) for Secretary of Education
Andrew Pudzer (CEO of a fast food chain) for Secretary of Labor
Wilbur Ross (investment banker, Rothschild Investments, vulture capitalist) for Secretary of Commerce
Tom Price for Secretary of Health (he wants to privatize medicare/medicaid)
Steven Mnuchin (investment banker, Goldman Sachs) for Secretary of the Treasury
Elaine Chao (Mitch McConnell's wife) for Secretary of Transportation
Nikki Haley as Ambassador to the UN

More to come. Notably Sec. State is still open, and veterans affairs. He put Sarah Palin forward for veterans, but the vets got kinda angry at that. Seems they're no fools.

What do you guys think of his picks? See any outsiders in there? I left out the most hilarious one, because it gives me a chance for giftastic gifs:

Guess who's got a cabinet level spot? This bitch:

Not the young one. That's her daughter.

Fall Steam Sale

28 November 2016 - 08:59 PM

You guys pick up anything good?

So far I've gotten Homeworld 1 and 2 remastered, Starbound, FTL, and Star Wars: KotOR II for a grand total of 25 bucks. Praise Gaben!

Even though I bought KotOR II on disc at one point, I don't mind paying the 3 bucks or whatever to own a digital copy that I can continue to install on new PCs into the future. Wish I could say the same for Homeworld. I really wish I had played it when it first came out. I've already dived into that for a few hours yesterday.

Read my profile or something if you have absolutely no idea who I am.

I am interested to hear your questions. :shuriken:

What.cd tracker down for the count after 9 years

17 November 2016 - 02:00 PM

What.cd, the world's largest private music tracker, went down today, reportedly after a raid by French authorities.

This is a blow for me. I know most people don't think of torrent trackers as communities, especially if their only exposure to torrents is the pirate bay or some other public tracker. But What.cd was always different. Born out of Oink's Pink Palace, this was possibly the best tracker I've ever been on, with more formats, more active users, and more depth and variety than any tracker you could name.

I was a member for over 7 years, not quite as long as I've been here at Codex, but still, almost as long. I was introduced to countless musical artists that I never would have found otherwise.

It is a sad day for the music community.

Discuss torrents, What.cd, or music in general.
