Topics I've Started

So my friends exboyfriend has served her papers asking for 14K in items.

26 January 2013 - 08:36 PM

So here is my friend...please be nice.

SO this has got me so freaked out. I was in a relationship with a man
for 5 years. After some time he decided to move out and move in with
his ex-wife and husbamd which inexplicably ended the relationship. A
year or so later I found another man to date. Long story short he found
out I was talking to someone else after he saw my phonebill, and
facebook.

Since then he has been vindictive. He has since called dyfus with
false accusations of abuse, and alcoholism. He has also asked for a ring
that was given to me on Hannukah which now he is claiming is a
engagement gift( I have paperwork showing otherwise). Now he has served
me papers from superior court demanding 14K in items, and attorney fees.

He has requested I give him back 2 twin beds, a king size bed(beds he
bought for my daughters and myself), a cat, and other things that were
given as gifts to our daughter and myself. He has tried to push me too
by saying if I didn't give him the ring, and cat that he would auction
off a storage unit that was holding all of my personal
belongings...again that has been a recorded phonecall.

Does he even have a chance in court? I cannot afford a lawyer either
since I'm currently unemployed. Aren't gifts just gifts and not
conditional? I even have recorded phonecalls with him stating he left
me, and how I killed my ex rabbi husband who dropped dead of a heart
attack :( I live in NJ. Can anyone please help? He is just completely
jealous, and mad. He has lied about my character, and is trying to take
things away that children should have...What do I do?

Seeking help identify some Judaica books. Hebrew is rusty...probably a Talmud?

20 January 2013 - 08:26 PM

This is one of many volumes. I think they could be worth some money...if I can't sell them I'd probably donate them at the end. Does anyone here know what this says? Or knows what the origins of it is?

Selling Judaica books that were given to my friend by a Rabbi who passed away. Arguemen...

19 January 2013 - 06:31 PM

He has had these in storage for some time now. He wis hes to sell them and or donate them at the end. Money is tight for him so that's his motive.

Our arguement occured once we talked about dollars. His arguement was that the books may be worth more because they were owned by a Rabbi. Now his has said not because he was dead...but because of the fact that Jews would know that a Rabbi would have a slew of books going though different subjects. These books aren't really old either. Most are paper/hardback books of just normal looking books. Nothing really old though. Most are dated probably in the 2000's.

Wouldn't a buyer just see dollars signs at the end of the day. Unless he was some famous Rabbi which he wasn't. How do I approach this really? We both plan on splitting the $ at the end I think.

GF is in a serious legal bind...Crazy Ex BF want's a "engagement ring" back...

25 October 2012 - 09:52 PM

My girlfriend is currently being sued by her ex-boyfriend who left one year ago in New Jersey. He has requested that he wants to the ring back, or pay the 10,000$ that ring was worth and also intends on having her pay for all attorney fees, and costs that come with this process.

She has been outspoken that this was not a engagement ring, but a gift that they both went out to get on a random sunday morning. There was never a date set for marriage either like he has implied. So where in the world does he get this idea from? Admittingly the ring was bought under his name though but the ring was given to her a while ago.

Lets go with what he is saying though

By law in New Jersey it states that a engagement ring is considered a conditional gift. This is where I sort of raise my brow. I have actually heard him say that he was the one who left not just once but 3 times... Finally moving back with his ex wife. Doesn't this by default mean that she keeps the ring since HE broke it off? If she was the one to break off the relation then she would absolutely have to return the ring. But if he was the one who broke it off..then?

Not to mention this jerkoff called Dyfs on her since she didn't give the ring back and accused her of being a alcoholic, and giving her 3 girls alochol on a daily basis.

She can't quite afford to get a lawyer, but might try a public defender. How does one approach this issue?

Contacts from Iphone are now not there ;(

23 August 2012 - 08:36 PM

Does anybody know how to get the contacts back? Apparently the last available backup was from 11/2/10 which is just too old! I have no idea how this happened. I turned the phone on and boom no more contacts. I don't think I have Icloud on mine either. Funny thing is that when I went to go check on my favorites list for phonecalls the contacts named showed up for like a second then just went back into showing just the digits. what could have happened?
