The Bumps in the Night Thread

05 February 2011 - 09:03 PM

I'm not sure if this is the correct sub forum to post this, or if it's done before but here it goes.

I'm not an advocate for the paranormal but there's just some stuff you can't ignore. I'm saying things that you can't comprehend or might just be a bit afraid of. By that I mean you try to understand but it's like it's too wide. Like your inner mind is trying to see through a fish eye lens. with that said, here's my story:

Before I became an apprentice horologist [clock fixer] I worked at a dairy. Now, I'm not sure how dairies from other parts of the U.S do it but occasionally once in a while the dairy bosses go to meet with each other. Generally it's a boring deal, how milk prices are changing, how to keep cows producing more milk and things of that nature. However;some of the bosses bring along their best workers. They often go with other workers to talk. the workers talk about other things though.Mostly about Castleford.

There's a place close to here called Castleford. Castleford is one of the areas with the most dairies despite having a population of close to 1,000. Many of the workers that attend these meetings are from there. Down in Castleford theirs a small canyon with a strange rock. The rock itself is attached to a small column roughly the size of a dinner plate holding it up about 10 feet off the ground. The rock is aptly named balanced rock. The place it's in is called Balanced Rock Park. The park is inside the canyon. At day it's a nice place to go fishing, have a picnic or just spend the day gazing at the clouds. Looking at the canyon walls is also pretty interesting. Now that you know the basic facts of how I got this story and how I came to be a part of it, I can start.

The workers talk about Castleford for one reason, the Castleford Monster. Some claim it's an alien stranded, but the most widely spread and generally believed story is that it is not an alien, but a man.

Originally Castleford was a boom town for travelers. It was located perfectly in between larger towns. Most of the business came from soldiers coming or going during the Vietnam War slightly before the 80's. One of the men coming back from Vietnam happened to stay in the town. Unknown to anyone he had an affair with the woman who would birth two children and later left. This particular woman was generally liked and had many lovers. However, with her pregnancy no one would marry someone with bastard children. Since this was the case she hid the pregnancy. No one noticed anything unusual and life went on. Until the birth. No one witnessed it and no one noticed a difference in her. The story goes that she hid them for a very, very long time. Some say she hid them in the attic, others in the cellar. It's agreed that she must have been a good mother, none of that feeding them rats or other strange things. Time passed, she matured and eventually died. when she did she left the children. It was said that when they cleaned the house of her possessions they found an odd room. with two beds and other signs that people had lived there. They thought it odd but didn't think much of it. Perhaps she rented rooms to travelers.

Back in those days the town held a picnic every year to celebrate the town's prosperity in Balanced Rock Park. During the end of the picnic near dusk a police officer known remembered only by the last name of Byner saw a strange figure hiding near the children. Like any officer he ran quickly. What he saw was what everyone agreed was a living monster. Byner immediately shot it down. It was said to be a young man with freakish figures. It had the body of a man but with a freakishly long, square skull with eyes on the sides. Some say like eyes not unlike that of a chameleon. In the sense that they were close to the sides of his head with only small, round ears close to them. His body was near normal with the only exception of thick nails and thin, sinewy muscles. To say the least he had the body of a runner. this incident promptly sped from traveler to traveler and killed the town in a sense. If you paid attention you'd make the connection that this might have been that woman's offspring. At least one of them. At least that's how the story goes.

From then on no one really visited Castleford unless it's to work or to go to the Park for a short visit or to prove how brave you are. Some stay in the park overnight. It's fairly obvious from all the ashes spread through the park and the graffiti on the rocks saying things like "Matt stayed the night here" or "Only fags believe in fairy tales". Now here comes my part.

Often times I hang out with friends I've come across through Track that live in other cities or towns. That particular night a few good friends and I had decided to drive to the movies. to do that we had to pick up our friend on the other side of Balanced Rock Park. When we had reached Castleford I noticed something eerie. Whenever we passed the dairies every cow was clustered close to the lights often put up for the workers to corral them in to the dairy itself. I commented that that was sort of odd since the dairy I worked at the cows never clustered around the lights. This obviously got me some shit from everyone else. But as soon as we entered the canyon everyone went silent. Maybe it wasn't what we thought it was or maybe it was. What happened was that the only thing playing was the radio. I remember the song playing was "Highway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. As some of you might know it's a fairly quiet song. The part about the forest will echo with laughter started playing when there was a thick "DRRUNKK" right above us. We were right in the middle of the canyon. My friend driving quickly stopped. Like the hardasses we are we all got out. We checked the top if his car and we saw a deep dent. As soon as we did someone said "Let's fuckin go lets just fuckin go man". Someone else said "fuck look at this". In front of us was a good chunk of concrete. The right headlight hit it dead on. It was the type of concrete that comes up when you hit a concrete floor with a sledge hammer. I remember that we all got quiet and looked around. I remember then that someone screamed and pointed. If you've ever gotten that where things are in slow motion and you don't want to look but you have to, you'll understand how I felt. Before I saw what I did I heard it. I heard the grating of rocks as they try to slide over each other when you step on them. It took me a moment to realize that something was up there. I didn't make out a figure since it was dark. Or maybe I didn't want to. I just knew and felt that it was running away. Or maybe towards us. That moment when you feel that adrenaline that quick starts your heart hit me. I screamed to get in the car and to take off. Everyone else must have gotten it to. It was probably seconds but it felt like milliseconds. We were all in the car and driving the hell away. I never forget that night. even though we never talk about it.

That's all I have to say. I know you probably don't believe me. I know that none of my friends would. I know I sure as hell wouldn't.

Chokato Lending

So.. would anyone be interested to pay like 300K for the Chokato Avi? I'd make a set of rules and among other things later if there was enough interest.
