So you're saying there is a limit to how strongly people can react to Trump's presidency?

Like where is the line for you?

Is "liking a status on facebook" not anti-trump enough for you?

How about writing a long ass "note" on Tumblr and sharing it?

Is protesting /too/ intense for you?

That's the problem. We tell each other to boycott companies that act unethically. We say "vote with your dollars" when it comes to a company makes a design decision that we disagree with.

Why can't we change our country of residence if we think our government is beyond repair?

Y'all hypocrites.

I literally said none of that but ok. I said FOR ME none of it boiled down to Trump and then I proceeded to list reasons why FOR ME I would want to change my country of residence. I said it was ignorant and ironic Americans wanna just go where ever they want and think because, by virtue of their American identity, they will be offered a place in countries with equally and sometimes more harsh immigration policies than the US. You can do whatever the fuck you want. So can anyone else, but you completely missed the point of what Drak and I were saying, or you just blatantly ignored the context of what I was saying. Idk if you're just trying to be argumentative or what.

I just saw this:

https://www.reddit.c...o_leave_the_us/

and thought "wow, how fucking entitled can you be?"

So yeah, people wanting to leave the US because of Trump are entitled children who don't realize how good they have it.

Yikes. And this is hella naive because Canada has so many issues as well. Like yeah, the US is hella anti-democratic, and Trump is a garbage bag, but to assume we can just waltz into another country is a bit ironic, especially since so many Americans are vehemently opposed to asylum seekers coming here. And super gross given we don't have the levels of violence, famine, poverty etc like what's happening in many places in Central and South America. I think there are legitimate reasons to want to leave the US, but they don't really boil down to "Trump sucks" for me. Mostly, for myself anyways, the maternal mortality rate here is garbage and our mortality rate is only getting worse, the education system is deeply flawed, healthcare and especially reproductive healthcare is becoming harder and harder to access, there are a lot more human rights violations happening here than people think (prison system, treatment of disabled folks, etc), our country is facing late stage capitalism, and our political system has never been as democratic as many Americans would like to believe. BUT, I recognize I'm still incredibly privileged as an American and it's pretty insensitive/entitled to just assume we have the right to "flee" (that's not even the appropriate word to use lol).

Aw @Coops I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with so many mobility issues. Good luck with the upcoming ankle stabilization surgery! I'd never heard of that before, but I read up on it and it sounds like it has a good chance to help your ongoing joint issues.

Oh, thank you so much! I am glad we finally own the house, but with moving looming ahead of us it seems like there's still a lot to go before I really feel settled there.
Yes, this house was great 12 years ago when I was charging up the stairs without touching a railing. I didn't even notice the stairs back then. Then time marched on, and I got ill, and now the stairs are literally unbearable.
Moving into a single story home will be such a welcome change. I am both excited and overwhelmed about the move - mostly because now that I'm doing some of the packing and I realize how much stuff we have, I dread the unpacking even more! lol

I wish you a new year of blessings, good health and healing!

That's the goal anyways! If it goes well, we'll do my left ankle after.

Yeah, it's totally normal to be stressed but excited. It'll be over before you know it and you'll be settled and happy to be in your new home. I hope that the house improves your overall quality of life! I know how nice it is to go from tons of stairs to none (the apartment I lived in before my house was on the third floor lol).

@Coops *nods* I figured you might be fighting away the blues.
But now that your back ...

*tackle hugs* MISSED YOU!

I'm so sorry to hear about your hip and knee issues.
I also have knee issues, and I know that mobility limitations can be so frustrating.
I'm happy to hear you are feeling better.

We FINALLY closed on the house yesterday (Dec-27). *happy dance*
We went through so many delays, it's just unbelievable - it felt like literally everything that could happen did, including the estate executor dying (!!!).
But it's a great house and it's worth the wait.

Right now our home is a tri-level, which is a LOT of stairs - it was fine 10+ years ago when I was physically feeling better, but between lung issues and knee issues the stairs have become a huge problem for me.
I literally can't wait to be in a one-floor ranch. At the new house, it's 4 steps from the kitchen into the garage, so that's not bad. The stairway downstairs to the basement is a bit steep, but I think it's going to be OK as I'll only ever be going down there to do laundry.
The movers come to pack the house on Jan-3 and we move in on Jan-4 -- I'm so excited for this! I will be happy to get moved in, even though it means I'll be unpacking boxes for probably weeks to come LOL

Wishing you a happy new year, full of many blessings. :)

Yes, frustrating indeed. I started physical therapy yesterday for my knee and the therapist put her fingers under my kneecap and made me contract my quadricep and then I ended up almost jumping off the table and yelling fuck bc it hurt so bad lol. So that was interesting. I have to go twice a week for four weeks. And by the time I finish, I'll be having ankle stabilization surgery on my right ankle, so I'll probably end up right back into pt. I'm real salty about that. I'm hoping my husband can help me keep up with my leg/hip exercises so shit doesn't get weak anymore. My hip injury probably caused my knee injury because I had to stop exercising and lost basically all my muscle tone in two months, which made my knees unstable (I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome so instability is a chronic issue for me and leads to dislocations or partial dislocations). It's just been this whole clusterfuck. BUT, my primary has been super patient and supportive. It feels like everything is sorta snowballing for me rn and that's not unusual for people with connective tissue disorders. I'm just hoping we can put an end to the snowballing before I end up in a wheelchair lol.

Anyways! Congratulations! That's so exciting. It sounds like the whole process was a wild ride. You must be relieved it's over finally.

Jesus a tri level would kill me lmao. I'm struggle with the three stairs into my house. It sounds like your new home will accommodate your health though and improve your quality of life, so that's good! Just go slow with the unpacking and take your time.

And thanks! Happy New year to you too. :)
