In Topic: Photographica #9 Christmas - WINNERS!

15 January 2016 - 07:58 AM

As much as I would love to host, this 11 day no-internet fiasco made me realize how unreliable I am because my work schedule.  :(  So that's a no.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate, though!!

Oh holy smokes... I'm sorry for the delay everyone.  I've been on a mission for work without internet, and now I'm stuck in Italy on a borrowed laptop.

Please as an apology, allow everyone else to choose first and I'll accept the remaining prize.
And thank you all!  :)

In Topic: Your thoughts on boudoir shoots.

30 December 2015 - 10:30 AM

I vote a big yes for boudoir photos.  They're not just sexy - they're fun, too!

I think the important thing is that you have them taken for yourself.  (And then your significant other can reap the benefits via photo album, or however you choose to present them.  I would personally choose a huge, life-size photo hanging over the mantle...thankfully, I don't have a mantle.)

But honestly, regardless of other people's opinions about your age, or your body, or the morality of being tastefully revealing or nude around a stranger, a boudoir shoot should be all about you and having a freakin' blast.  Like you said, who doesn't want to feel sexy?

And when you're 100 and you've got some saggy parts, and a few wrinkles, you and your man/woman can retreat to the hidden room in your futuristic house and reminisce happily about the 'good ol days' but then realize you've aged beautifully like a nice wine - and hot dang, you decide you'll have some new ones taken....

Rocket, I feel like a total turd for not seeing your thread.   :(

http://www.neocodex....rs-resolutions/

I was totally not trying to step on your toes.  And had I seen it I wouldn't have basically posted a dupe.  Thanks for beating me to the punch by several days.

Congrats on your amazing weight loss, by the way.      The weight that you lost, I apparently found.  (It's the law of physics... or mass... or something scientific that I ignored in college and spent the time writing "Mrs. Whateverhisnamewas" on my notebook.
Did you do anything specific, like a particular regimine? Or maybe those pre-portioned tupperwares my friends are trying to get me to use.

At any rate, I admire your steadfast devotion of improving your health, being cancer free (YES) - and also to your next-year goal of getting laid more than twice.   My grand total since August of 2014 = 0.

1.

House party in north London. Horrendously drunk. Woke up and was forced by boys to make a cooked breakfast, like I'm Wendy and the Lost Boys. Same as most years.

3.

I should have insisted that the Boy move back from France.

5. I am supposed to be in Paris. I will likely be at a house party in north London.

6.

Purely to have a better year than 2015. Which wouldn't be hard.

I can completely relate on #1!  It's why I've mostly stopped partying with boys, and moved on to hanging my lady-frans... because at least they can be bothered to help me cook eggs and bacon.  I once allowed myself to be talked into driving across town to pick up thai takeout for a houseful of hungover guys - and I asked while I was out that they at least pick up their bottles.  I got home a half hour later - zero improvement.  And my bathroom smelled musky for a week.  NASTY.
Also, I don't mean to pry - but are 3 and 5 related?  :(   That sounds rotten - and I'm sorry your Paris plans fell-through.  Not that it means much coming from me - but it's my dream next year to ring in the New Year in London.   (AKA - You're where I want to be, but I'm settling for Amsterdam this year.)
And I do hope your 2016 is beyond awesome.

3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)
I do not have any regret. I don't understand -at least not yet- how people always regret about something. I mean, it's all dead and gone, I'd rather live the present.

5. How/where will you ring in 2016?
Dinner with my family, party with friends <3

6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)
I don't like New Year's Resolutions, people ends up doing nothing, why would I start doing/stop doing something now? The earth never stopped spinning around the sun :p
But I do have a goal and the will to accomplish it. I want to buy new music gear and start a few bands.

I wish I could learn to live in the moment like you.  :D  All the silly self-help books I've read emphasize living in the moment to reduce stress.  It sounds to me like you have it all figured out!  You're right - there is truly no point in worrying about the past... it's like a bad habit.  And as for your New Years plan - spending time with your family sounds nice.  If I had a choice, I'd pick my family over partying my face off any day.  (I miss them!)
As for a resolution - I like the ambition of starting a few new bands.  You say it like it's no big deal - but that's pretty dang lofty.  Much success to you!

2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)
Surviving my brain surgery! And just, getting my health in order in general.
3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)
I wish I had not invited my mom down this year. I suppose, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have realized how much I dislike her ever since disowning my dad.

5. How/where will you ring in 2016?
I'm not sure yet. But it will be a fuckload better than the beginning of 2015. :3

6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)
Resolutions are for squares.

Holy crap... major kudos for surviving brain surgery and for your improving health!  That is definitely brag worthy.
And I'm terribly sorry to hear about your falling out with your mom.  I can't even begin to imagine how that must make you feel - and it sucks that you had to endure something like that.  I don't have any nice platitudes to offer you, not that they'd mean much anyhow, but I think you're very strong for being able to open up about your feelings.  (I personally like to keep mine bottled up... I hear bottling things up is very healthy.)
I do hope your 2016 is far better than 2015.  It seems like 2015 was just mediocre at best for most people... So I'll toast to your improving health, and a better kickoff to the New Year.  Even if you think I'm square for my resolutions.

Start teaching! I was a bit hesitant when I looked for a job, I thought I would regret it. Best experience ever

5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

At the beach with my family, girlfriend and friends. I'm really looking forward to it!

6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

My goals would be to do really well in college, keep on teaching and enjoy it, mantain the good relationship with my gf and save enough money to travel to a nice place for the summer :D

Glad to hear you're enjoying teaching!  I was hesitant when I started instructing in my career field, but it's definitely been a rewarding experience.  And it sounds to me like you're going to have a great kickoff to 2016!  The beach?  Family? Friends?  Sign me up... Hopefully you stir up some good-vibes early on, and they carry on throughout the year.
If you plan on traveling next year, where do you plan on going?     Someplace warm and sandy?   Or maybe someplace rugged and beautiful?   Traveling is a hoot - and I hope we'll hear about your adventures.
