Can't believe that bill failed by only one vote.

Kind of scary.

#1996629 Unpopular Opinions

Social media is absolutely toxic, and unbearable right now. I think I have about 30 more words to add to my facebook purity blacklist.

i don't think this is unpopular right now ;P

Spent Canadian Thanksgiving this year with @Shannon and she is a wonderful host :)

Eggs and avocado on toast is the best feast I've ever had on thanksgiving tbh.

#1989957 Euthanasia

Posted by Padme on 12 August 2016 - 12:22 AM

- Just because you believe in God doesn't mean you think that suicide/euthanasia are sinful or abhorrent; nor do you have to believe that God believes that. As well just because your religion dictates the same thing does not mean you also must align with that tenant.

I'm putting that out there because as a teenage who was struggling with my belief system and having been raised religiously by one parent, I thought I had to believe in everything or nothing.

Maybe a couple sources to read as well as legislation in places where it's already legalized as some light reading for people?

I think euthanasia should be legal. I don't really think that matters though... you have a right to ones own life. Obviously if ones life can be 'fixed' then we should hopefully try to avoid that.

I believe it was @Nymh who said in a previous thread on this sort of topic that suicide isn't selfish and if someone wants to end their life that is their decision.

- The whole notion that I can make the choice to end an animals life when it is in permanent pain but a grown adult can't make that choice for them self... i find it interesting.

I really don't have anything to argue or debate, just a few different thought points for people who wanted to reflect more on the topic. idk.

#1989940 Are you competitive?

I'm not competitive at all. I'm the least competitive person. I'm #1 non-competitive.

;) ;P

If I hear one more person degrade a songwriter over writing about their love life when EVERY singer does it. I will flip a table.

Taylor is very calculating, and will steam roll anyone who gets in her way.

I will agree with any of that but anymore BS about how she dates just to write music and then I never see anyone else called out on that is just crap.

At the end of the day, she has been more charitable than any of the other oafs involved in this situation, she's given 50k to random fans who have cancer & can't make it to her concerts, to her backup dancers nephew also suffering cancer, gave 25k books to NYC schools, money to fans to pay off student loans, goes through fans SM to learn about them and send them personal christmas gifts. That's just on the surface.

Apparently now she wants the WHOLE tape released, because while Kanye did in fact tell her about one small part of the song he didn't divulge it all. While ya, she should of admitted she got a phone call and she is definitely a snake, the Kardashians are trash and Kanye West is a pompous ass who lost his only grounding factor when his Mom died.

Subtle Hint to rep Fikri for making these awards on the previous page :3

I haven't chosen a team yet but I'm dying to get an award when I do!!!

I read a comment on reddit awhile ago where a user shared that he saw a man on public transit using his iphone, texting/making calls/playing game and realized that the man was blind. I think companies who go the extra mile without having to are really admirable. Steve Wozniak said that it was he & Steve (Jobs) goal so that a blind man would be able to use their devices (before iphone was ever conceptualized) much like a regular visioned user.

I think Facebook taking strides to have photos described better to blind people is also incredible.

I feel similarly about other disabilities. I myself try my best to be more accommodating & respectful of those who need adaptations in any way throughout my day (work, home, grocery shopping, etc.)

There was a campaign through where I live that really focused on saying that not all disabilities are visible. I sometimes have issues with my body flair up and they aren't anything you can see but it makes it really hard to stand for long periods of time and I really appreciate when I don't have to explain myself to people.

Darkest confession i've ever shared on here lmfao

#1986535 Fatphobia/Thin Privilege

Posted by Padme on 13 July 2016 - 09:28 PM

Can I get some names of medical conditions?

Fashion isn't built on thin people. Fashion is built on mass production. Clothes don't fit anyone well because they're not made to fit everyone. They're just made to fit. Things need to be tailor made in order to fit anyone true. It's not a fat specific issue at all.

The average person is now overweight, so the world would be therefore designed around fat. But it's not. The world is designed around profit margins. The reason spaces are smal is because it fits more spaces, not because it's for thin people. It's not made for thin people, but for more sales.

Anything which causes malasbortion, there are many. Some people just have high 'metabolic rates.' Other times some conditions cause people to lose weight instead of gain weight. Feel free to google them.

The fashion industry is literally built on thin people. Up until VERY recently all new fashion models were stick thin.

I'm not even gonna bother going further on this.

I'm so confused as to how to respond to you because absolutely no one here (I'm not caught up in this thread but at least prior posts) is debating any of this with you. You are literally responding to something that I am not saying. I say 'saying fuck the police is not constructive' and you say 'it's freedom of speech'. You do understand how we are having two totally different conversations here?

Are you capable of any form of higher thinking?

Nope. Definitely not. Especially when someone thinks anecdotal evidence is proof. lmfao.

Serious question for the people who stand by "FUCK THE POLICE" stuff. Do you really think all cops are bad?

No I don't. No one that I know thinks that.

People have said 'Fuck the Police' for decades, they said it before NWA and they've said it after.

Just like with anything, all groups chant. They have slogans or anything like that. You know how people call feminists 'man-haters' They don't usually mean ALL feminists they mean a group of them. How men call women bitches? How people call out Wall Street as being greedy ass douche canoes? People generalize about groups not to villanize(sp?) all of them but to make a point or express themselves.

What should BLM shout out? 'oh hey please don't kill us' or 'pls police us better' or 'pls dont racially profile me' etc. Shouting 'Fuck the Police' is true. It isn't about any single police office (there are plenty of shit ones tho.) It's about the establishment upon which they stand. A broken establishment that has built upon broken law after broken law. The whole thing needs to be reworked.

I posted what I did for a reason and it isn't to disrespect the hard working police forces that many cities have but in general the system is broken and needs to be rebuilt. That doesn't happen peacefully as history has taught us. I support the Black community as best as I can but as a middle class, white, young female I can only do so much, it isn't my fight to define how they should get what they deserve.
