Topics I've Started

An Existential Crisis and the Multiverse Theory

05 April 2015 - 08:11 AM

Please excuse the lack of fluidity in introducing these topics. I'm just bored and I find these topics exciting.

(Before anyone asks, yes, I just recently watched Carl Sagan's Cosmos.)

Having an existential crisis is a pretty common symptom that comes with atheism/agnosticism. It's strange thinking every single human being alive right now will be dead in 100-120 years. Believing that there is nothing after death makes me question the point. The worst of things would have never mattered, and the best of things would have never mattered. The sun is going to engulf the earth one day. When we're dead we have no way of acknowledging that we were ever even alive. Even the people who carry your memories will die one day too. Unfortunately, I'm too much of a skeptic to have any true, comforting spiritual beliefs.

As for the multiverse theory, it gives me goosebumps thinking about it. No, it has not been proven, but it is arguably possible.

I'm terrible at starting conversations so I command you all to simply discuss.

Old Artwork, New Resolution

24 November 2014 - 02:43 PM

I scavenged through my old crunchyroll/myspace/facebook accounts and found some of my old paintings I did around middle school and early high school. I'm not completely sure but I know I abandoned art on sophomore year because I got bored. It's some of my first trials and work in painting/drawing, when I just dived into the hobby just because the girl I was jealous of knew how to draw. For the black ones I used charcoal and pastel.

I made a resolution to myself that I would begin drawing and painting again and get better. So I'll try to post new things here and see how I improve if I do. Ideas and suggestions are welcome! I suffer from artists block.

Spoiler

EDIT: Left this site for almost a year after posting this. Forgot about it. But I did continue drawing. I'm a shit ton better now. Will post when I feel.

Things you say you'll do but never do because "reasons"

24 November 2014 - 04:53 AM

I excuse my failures with a fancy word called "procrastination" and dream up endless accomplishments but don't want to do the work that goes with it. I'm finally beginning to see it as a problem rather than just one of those relatable things you laugh at on tumblr. They (whoever they are) say that the first step to solving a problem is realizing that there is one, hence this board. I feel that with my habits right now, I'm on a fast track to middle aged obesity and earning an appearance on either "My Strange Addiction" or "Hoarders". Or worse, I would just end up a lonely homebody living a short life of regret and disappointment.

A problem I have, like many others do is self doubt. I feel that since a lot of people are after the same thing you are and there are people a million times better than you, you should just forget it. Because believing that "you can accomplish anything you put your heart into" is a very naive way of thinking. Or all that other "believe in yourself", "you can do anything" bullshit our elementary teachers and successful people who got there by luck and rich parents spout. So instead I adopted the philosophy that the sun will blow up one day anyways, and we'd all be dead long before that so why the fuck not try having triple orgasms in a single masturbation session? I mean, no one's going to stop me, I have enough time before they return home and I shouldn't miss this chance so why the hell not?

The rambling above is not important, so to go to the point:

What kind of promises, resolutions, and ideas have you had that you keep telling yourself you'll do and end up giving up on or forgetting? What are a list of things you want to do, accomplish, or become that you know you should probably do now before you get old or get die under mysterious circumstances?

Here are a short sample of mine (only the ones I'm not too embarrassed to say and I think are safe to disclose to the internet). Funny thing is, most of them are simple. But I guess I'm just a lazy, wishy-washy fuck. (*I realize this became more of a bucket list)

- Improve drawing skills

- Continue learning Japanese

- Practice social skills

- Take improv class

- Read at least a book a week

- Take pole dancing classes

- Learn how to dance

- Have a healthier lifestyle (lol)

- Climb at least 6 out of the 7 summits

- Bang one celebrity even if that celebrity is Steve Buscemi

- Publish a graphic novel

- Become one of those funny people I admire
- Buy my siblings and parent a house before I leave for my own

My ultimate goal however is to find a way/career that pays me to travel and avoid math as much as possible. I also have another major one in mind that I'm too embarrassed to say (and I'm sorry to disappoint you but no, it does not involve a porno)

New Neopet Species (?)

Apparently there's this:

Not too sure since it looks hideous and it would take a shit ton of work to release a new species what with all the clothes they need to refit/redraw on it.

If this is a fake as some speculate, what new species would you like to see? Personally, I want one on all fours so they wouldn't have that awkward fist pose. And also fluffy. It must be fluffy.
