I was inspired to make this topic because, ya know, there's things that annoy me online. There's things that annoy you too. There's things that annoy everyone. But then you think... Why are people so annoying online? Why don't I have to put up with this crap in real life? The answer? The e-people....

What's an e-person? An e-person is a type of person that doesn't necessarily exist in real life... Or at least, not in the same incarnation as they do online. E-People were given life by the internet, for one reason or another. Something about the internet, be it the ability to form a community with people from around the world, or the anonymity, or any number of things, has created a new breed.

Discuss Types of E-People, the Good and the Bad!
(Do note that not all E-specific types of people are bad!)

My contribution to the topic...

E-Conspiracy Theorists

Description: There have always been conspiracy theorists, but not as they are now. It used to be if you were a conspiracy theorist, you were the local nutcase and lived in a rundown building with video cameras everywhere, because you knew too much and the government wanted to get you.

But not anymore.

Thanks to the internet, conspiracy theorists aren't lone nuts anymore. You can't look at a simple 9/11-topical video on YouTube without seeing comments from one or multiple people that 9/11 was an inside government job or that you should go watch LooseChange.

In the internet they have found a power... The power to not be the lone nutcase anymore. On the net they congregate into a multi-headed hydra that latches onto conspiracy theories for dear life and propagates them wherever they can. There is no escape!

Environment: Sadly, the E-Conspiracy Theorist can now be found anywhere and everywhere.

Modus Operandi: The E-Conspiracy Theorist typically accuses those that speak against their theories as brainwashed sheep that are being lead by either the government, the media, or both. The E-Conspiracy Theorist does not come up with their own valid arguments, instead pointing to movies (ex: Loose Change) or websites to try and back up their claims. Sometimes they will just read off the websites or listen to the movies, then speak as if they came up with those things on their own.

Recommendation: Stay away at all costs! Any attempts to point out the hypocrisy of an e-conspiracy theorist will fail. No amount of debunking or logical arguing will change their minds. They are willing to go leaps and bounds to keep their belief, and there is nothing you can do to save them.

My favourite is the E-Badass. Due to the inherent nature of the internet, people don't have to be responsible for their actions. Take codex for example. If I wanted to, I could goto my local library, start an account, and spam codex into a million pieces, all while keeping my regular account untouched. Spaming codex in such a way makes me an E-Badass because I did something against the law! And whats more, its nearly impossible for me to be caught! So not only can I appear to be a badass, but at virtually no risk to myself happy.gif

    Gotta love E-Badasses. Especially Frizzle.

    I have another!

    The Attention Whore

The attention whore is most often a girl that isn't very popular in real life. She doesn't get a lot of guys, and is feeling a bit sexually repressed. Enter the internet! On any given message board there are typically dozens of guys ready to throw ample attention at girls of any type regardless of age, how attractive they are, or their personality. (Note that these guys are another type of E-person)

Environment: The attention whore goes to message boards where there is typically a gigantic ratio of males to females (which means most boards are free game!) The attention whore will also frequent chats and messenger conversations if they are available.

Modus Operandi: At first the attention whore seems like a regular person, just a little "cutesy" compared to most. However, the true side of them begins to come out as they start injecting random sexuality into conversations where it isn't really called for. They also randomly choose guys to flirt with on a regular basis, and typically joke around sexually as much as possible. Unfortunately, most e-guys are gullible and completely fall for it.

On the issue of pictures, it varies from person to person. If the attention whore is moderately attractive or up, they will typically post pictures as much as they can. The reason is that it's easy to get comments like "you're beautiful!" or "you're so cute!" from guys online, even if they look average. They post lots of pictures to feel better about themselves.

However, if they are not attractive in the slightest, they may or may not take pictures at all. If they do, they'll use something called "MySpace angles". To take a picture at a myspace angle, you do one or more of the following:

    * Take the picture from an angle that makes little to no sense.
    * Take a picture of only a small area, like just the face.
    * Take pictures whre you aren't very visible.
    * Most importantly... No pictures from the front view!

The point of MySpace angles is that they only take pictures of themselves from the few angles that make them look good.

Recommendations: While the attention whore poses little actual harm, they can grow to be an annoyance. Be wary, though. Attention whores have a tendency to build up legions of fanboys. Don't let it get that far! If you want to take down an attention whore, you have to do it before she's built up her army of horny teens that will try to drive you out.

Don't forget turning up the lighting on a picture to mask any unsightly features.

    Script Kiddie

The script kiddie is a common occurance on programming and other technology-based areas of the internet. The script kiddie and the hacker differ in the fact that a script kiddie will use only premade exploits and tools to do their bidding, and that they lack the self-discipline and self-motivation to figure out how these tools really work. Script kiddies seek the power and the reputation of a hacker but without the hard work and discipline involved in learning how to do it yourself.

Environment: The script kiddie usually lurks on technology-based forums and thrives in an environment where hacking and scripting discussion is in abundance. Favors an environment where it takes little effort to get yourself a reputation and/or a place where "l33t hax0r toolz" are readily available.

Modus Operandi: An already-existing script kiddie will seek out areas on the internet where they can get themselves a reputation. Most script kiddies start off as individuals who want to follow in the footsteps of elite individuals who make awe-inspiring accomplishments. Soon after, they realize that they can get their hands on tools that they don't have to make themselves and that cracking and/or hacking is as simple as pushing a button. It is at this step where the script kiddie and the 'hacker' will go their seperate ways: the hacker will make attempts to disassemble said program and see what makes it tick (and will also go out of their way on a quest for knowledge), however, the script kiddie will immediately seek out a target to use the tool on without knowing exactly how it works (and really has no intention on learning how it works) as long as it makes themselves look l33t.

Recommendations: Don't get on a script kiddie's bad side. Armed with premade exploits and no self-discipline, they will be after everything you call your own (e-mail accounts, forum accounts, etc..) and will flood your e-mail with messages similar to:

    "omfg meh HAX ju5t pwn3d j00!!1!!1shift!!one"

.. in an effort to make themselves look elite when they are not.

You guys look into this shit too much. The way I see it, people are either E-dicks or Not.

So far this is what I've come up with:

    E-dicks:

    Practically everyone on the internet

    Not:

    Me.

You may want to add a footnote stating that 'Me.' is code for 'That cool Hobo everyone wants to be like'. Otherwise people might get confused and think you insulted me which is pretty much how the world is going to end

    The web hermit

the hermit is a person who spams every where and constantly seeks all and every ones attention while being a phsyco theorist and a scripter all at the same time. realy there is no wining in a argument against this fiend. (i used to be one cause it was fun) You just leave them alone, beacause they will backfire and keep restating the obvious and the will congratulate you for so called beating them, at a game they made up as the keep going.

    Kinda like calvin ball.

Enviroment: you can always find one no matter where you are. you always have the nut out there, that a few people like because of his or her difference but keeps most people at a distance. they can be found scrounging around topics that are a week old bringing back dead arguments or usualy just making everyone mad, but the reason why no one gets rid of them is because it gives people something to talk about.

Modus Operandi: they realy keep going until they crash in on themselves and realize what they have done, usualy fixing themselves and start displaying talents. its realy worth the trouble. because they usualy become adept at what they do, due to their new found time.

Recomendation:Try to soothe the beast. they usualy are smart and display talents. they just have the feeling of being far superior than every one else. after a while they will become good resources and if you where nice to them they will probaly help you all to hell.
