New scientist is a non-peer reviewed, sometimes sensationalized magazine. As a reference, it is somewhat above the National Enquirer.

I don't recall claiming it was peer reviewed or 100% accurate, just to show that there are doubts about the methodology used in that particular study by multiple sources.
