You'd be correct, the news is always released early so it's not actually 4th April on Neo just yet (I believe they use Californian time). Then you have to wait til they take down the prank on the news page, refresh and you'll get the avatar.

I actually like this becoming a daily where we have to phase out "junk" items. We get SO much garbage from dailies... x_x
I'm just glad I never discard anything. I didn't buy a thing during the event and it will be a while till I have to do it because of this daily. ._.
