foxfi is awesome. I went ahead and paid the 4 or $5 one time fee and went pro. But there's the free version, and it's an app you can use without having to jail break your phone.

I have verizon and a verizon store guy told me about it, I've had no issues yet. They've been very quick to respond to what questions that I have had in the past too.
