I always check the author name for fear of doing this. Good to hear they were nice about it though (I think).

@Kord Thank you for the reassurance, it's turned into a pretty good conversation point between the two of us :) It's nice to know that for once (usually not the case) a prof of mine is being open minded and not believing that everything they say is always right.
@argonate There are multiple authors so even if I had checked I wouldn't of known if he had in fact written that portion and its strange because the excerpt I critiqued isn't from the rest of the book he did pen :\ so weird but good idea to check in the future :P

Padme I'm just extremely sorry that apparently the bulk of your profs wouldn't be so cool. DAMN have things have apparently changed since I was in school and also since working at a university myself. :(
