The real damage of religion

I understand the irony, I understand your reasoning behind your anti-religion agenda.
Just thought better of you. This is kinda my area.

Nothing wrong with a bit of light reliefThat's nice Joe. Laugh at innocent people, individuals going about their life and doing day-to-day things and you laugh at them being hurt.

It's just one more reason not to engage in silly rituals.

I don't understand the point of debating with religious folk. Maybe a debate with Agnostics would be more lively, but it's like getting into a fist fight with a paraplegic. There's simply no way they can defend their myths again the mighty arm of science. *shrug*

Haha. Yes.
And technically, that room would be bopping with the majority of us on this topic being atheists.

awesome fix, Inver ;3
Just a random thought while going through the thread:
Wouldn't the people with religious beliefs look so silly when we all die and find out theres no afterlife? Though we'd be too dead to think anyway. >_>

Its not nearly as dangerous as sex orgies performed by people who don't believe in God.
Anyone up for an orgy in the name of atheism?

Not trying to sound too facetious (but still a little):
Wouldn't all the atheists and non-believers on this thread look funny when they die and find themselves in hell?

I'm not going to believe in religion for the sake of having an 'afterlife insurance'. That's what's so disgusting about it all. You're a good person only because you're promised a reward for it. So wrapped up in heaven that you ignore the present. I'm a good person for my own benefit. Not to satisfy some lust for my imaginary utopia.

Honestly if god does send all atheists/non-believers to hell he's that badass old testament no nonsense god and you're probably going to end up there too

Good enough for you, but not Joe? Silly Lee, holier than thou arguments should be behind us all. That's nice Joe. Laugh at innocent people, individuals going about their life and doing day-to-day things and you laugh at them being hurt.

Lovely. Funny how smartest and agree with most happen to coincide, thereby implying that you are smart for agreeing with him.Frizzle is the smartest guy on here, also the person I agree with most.

Instead of posting simply to stroke Lee's ego, and by extension, your own, how about dealing with the replies to your earlier posts?Frizzle is the smartest guy on here, also the person I agree with most.
That's generally how conversations proceed.
I wouldn't worship a God who condemns anyone who doesn't believe in him anyway. Not trying to sound too facetious (but still a little):

That and, all your other Gods/Idols are fakes, I am the one true God!

With all the sins i've done, i'd probably be in hell anyway, so...meh no difference.
And i'd still be in hell with all the other atheists. Atheist party all over again!

There are downsides to hell, I'd imagine. The heat. And every time you try to relax some little devil comes up and pokes you in the ass with a three pronged pitchfork. I swear, if there's one thing I hate, it's being poked in the ass.

Why would Hitler be in hell? The god of the old testament was totally into genocide...Except for, like, Hitler.

I've decided I don't believe in you anymore.
Random side note (from "Hell Yeah" by The Bloodhound Gang)
"But would i be a good Messiah with my low self-esteem?
If i dont belive in myself would that be blasphemy?"

You're kidding me. Becuase that's what I was doing. Kidding. Don't take it so seriously. I have the same respect for every person whether they have a religion or not, and whether they have a nuts religion or not. I was only pointing out an obvious point to what was already said about "people dying and finding no heaven". It works both ways, that's all I was saying. I don't ever recall ever actually saying: "You'll all go to hell! Die blasphemics!" Everyone is totally reasonable in your non-belief.

If I'd wanted to tear you a new anus for making such an absurd comment, it would have been much clearer.
If you would like a serious response, though (no tearing involved), all that needs pointing out is that the lack of evidence, and the ridiculous volume of (potential) gods from which to choose, make the chances of picking the winning team vanishingly small enough to render any assumed benefit moot.
