It looks like Neopets changed the name from E-Z See Crystal Ball to E-Z® See Crystal Ball, with that weird symbol. It looks like our Item DB still has the old name so hasn't had price updates in a while. But besides that, how stupid to add that symbol into a Neopets item name.

Especially since it isn't a default keyboard character., which means a healthy portion of laptop users can't even access it without either an external numpad or the special characters tool. Just causes more trouble than it's worth, methinks.

    E-Z® See Crystal Ball
    E-Z® Brand Acidifier Play Set™
    E-Z® Brand Chemistry for Beginners® Cross-Promotional Play Set™

That last one seems to be a bit overboard with those reserves and trademarks.

Don't all laptops have that function thing where you can change a portion of the letters to a number pad? o:

But yea I agree. That change is just stupid.

well, wouldn't it just be the html entity equivalents? ©, ®, and ™. i would assume that even they would want optimal charset support...

also, for those who really want to put those symbols in via keyboard, without the aid of copy/paste and extended keyboards,
    © = alt + Numpad 0169
    ® = alt + Numpad 0174
    ™ = alt + Numpad 0153

    enjoy

I didn't realize there was more, two even have trademarks, that is too much lmao. Just delete the item and replace it with something similar like a normal crystal ball, doesn't need to be E-Z See haha

You do realize that there's a high possibility that neopets could be using this as a way to advertise and make money?
By inserting a real world item into their game, people will wonder about it and maybe even buy it.
Especially for those parents in the game who chance upon this item, they could also follow your train of though and wonder why there's a copyright and look around for the answer. After they figure out that these are real things, they might buy it for their kids.

I'm sure neopet's number one desire is not to please you guys and make things "easier" to type. Plus, what are the chances you're going to look up that item randomly? Slim to none.
It's more probably that you get it as a part of a retrieval quest (i.e Jhudoras/snowfaerie/things of that nature) and in which case you can just copy paste the name into the search bar to look for it.

Well said. And yeah you are entirely right on the nature of the source. All three were lesser plot items from three different plots. The Crystal Ball from the Lost Desert Plot in '06, the Chemistry Set from The Tale of Woe in '07, and the Acidifier from Return of Sloth in '08.

All found on Jneo's db, of course.
