I gotta admit when i first joined my sole intention was to make 500 posts and gtfo.

But over time i kinda realised that this community ain't half bad. I've had alot of silly HALP HAO JOO DO DAT topics(like what to get a girl for christmas, i got stressed over that >_>) and most of the people who posted actually really did have helpful inputs. Spammer or no, i believe there will be some posts that help one way or another.

Money wise, I did consider paying for advanced, but I don't have a credit card so I can't verify for paypal, the next best thing's hitting 500 |:

I don't know what is worse, spammers or mods who continue to let them run free and turn around and complain.

I was about to post a related post, Scot - thank you. It is like moderators don't even exist here.

Just for the record; you don't need a credit card to use paypal (that's the beauty of paypal).

As long as you have a bank account, you can link your paypal to this account. They will make x2 tiny (like .01c and .09c) deposits to your bank account. You then use your bank statement to see the amounts deposited and enter them into paypal. Once you've done this your account is verified to that bank account.

Disadvantage; it will take 3 days or so for your paypal payments to clear (they act like a wire transfer / eCheque without the extra charges)

Ah. I see. Learnt something new :)

Though paypal linking to my bank account sounds dangerous lol. I really don't trust paypal, because of online security issues, or maybe its just my paranoia and lack of understanding. Meh :p

But good to know that the bank service thing is free, considering how most bank-related services require you to pay handling fees. Might create a bank account solely for paypal when im not feeling so lazy. I don't want a credit card cause im so afraid of falling into debt lol.

The only thing really to be scared of is selling intangible goods to shady people. I've sold many WoW accounts using Paypal and no matter what, the buyer always has a way to get his money back (within a certain time period).

I really agree that here aren't a lot of more features in the ABer with and Advanced account. They are helpful but what I have is pretty good (:

And.. I don't have money to buy the Advanced membership :p

I had to use the chargeback system on paypal, which actually opens the resolution centre and PayPal staff review the case before releasing money. The funds ARE frozen in the account (if they're still there) until the issue is resolved.

Overall there was ALOT of hassle using the system, required information and the like in order to actually make the claim. So I always make sure I keep records of PM's emails and screenshots to prove everything.

If it comes down to a situation where a large amount of money is changing hands, it is suggested that something physically be mailed to the recipient.

You have to cover your bases with those cases.

You can get away with a resolution in your favor almost assuredly if it is agreed that (in the case of selling an account) the buyer is purchasing a piece of paper with a valid username and password written on it. You can make side agreements about emailing or PMing the username and password upon purchase, but the physical exchange of an item really solidifies the transaction.

Haha wow i just learned a lot of new things today by reading this.
I really agree with some of the things that have been said, mostly about the Mods, i'm not even sure who they are but i've noticed a few things that they could sort out around the site (:

and yeah, i really want my 500 posts and i'm in to making new friends any day, but at the moment i'm not gonna pay i'm just gonna wait :3

Most of the founding members and mods simply grew up.

SLink, Hydro, Noit, and pyke are all still around, but they don't have the raw amount of time necessary to police these boards.

School, work, and real life get the best of us all sometimes

That's how we ended up with a mostly self-policing board.

If you act like an idiot, there will be someone around to call you on it and hopefully correct the situation :3

That's not remotely how we ended up with a self-policing board :p
The admins decided they didn't want a bloated mod team, so they just got rid of all the staff.

    I don't know, but it's annoying.
They should post on things that are interesting/relevant to them, and only if they have something meaningful to contribute. :/

Well, I never cared about spending the money, but was apprehensive about using my Paypal account with all the cheaters here. :) Finally sucked it up and purchased advanced yesterday - got too impatient to wait for it.

That and when I joined there were only about 10-12 active members (unless the rest of them were hiding in Private ;) ) and no programs, so the noob-smashing necessity wasn't exactly present either

Yeah i kind of figured that 20 + year old men wouldn't really be on here just to play neopets any more haha :p
But thumbs up for sticking around and still helping all the noobs out with the programs ect.

I'll be honest that I want my 500 posts, but I loved Abrosia so much that I just paid the $5. It's not that much.
And also, I definitely won't be one of the ones that make 500 posts and leave, I like this community a lot.
My last forum home faded away, so here I am to stay yay~ ew rhyming :C

I care more about my trader score than my number of posts :p

I post in topics I'm interested in. I don't post in the ones I'm not. Simple as that *shrug*

I don't use Abrosia enough to want to pay for it and I'm pretty happy with what I have now

Yeah i agree, i do like the people on here they give me a good laugh and it's something entertaining whilst you can't play on neo (:
Still, i refuse to spend real money on a virtual pet web site no matter how cheap or expensive it is, i wont even buy nc cards, i'm pretty much like a jew. Every pennies mine xD but i can tell you now that if i don't get my 500 posts soon, i probably will end up paying for advanced membership.

Yeah me too now i think :p
and i do admit, i post in topics that are active or currently in motion xD
I like having conversations with people there and then, or i like being in the beginning of a conversation, coming in three pages in is really annoying (:
I don't use it that much either, but i like the setting i'm currently on anyway. This whole thing about having two different post scores is annoying though, apparently some threads don't count anymore to stop people spamming :D

There is no need of spamming.
If one want's to get to the 500 posts, one only have to spend a little time on the forums.
Eventually one topic that attract us will appear, and the posts will come naturally.

I post a lot, but I don't consider myself a spammer at all. I just have a big mouth on every forum I've ever been on. My posts are always funny/witty/useful... I've seen very few posts around here that don't follow that mold. Ummm or ROFLMAO are the only posts I'd truly call spam.

Yeah. Abradix has a point. I've seen previous threads from like years ago where people just post things like "lol" and "fail" or something simple like that but now a days spammers have come up with a lot of very clever spam posts that technically follow the mold

Techncially that no longer makes them spammers. :p Whatever their intent is, if it's good content, then it's fine to be posted.

Apparently I'm a tool then or just lazy; I'm paying for advanced till I get the 500 post and I'll probably lurk around after that anyways. I enjoy picking the shops I want my aber to stay in because there are some shops that are just really not my cup of tea for RSing in.

Shadowlink was referring to human people posting good content stuff.
I think almost everyone else tought this thread was about human spammers.

But yeah, I think those spambots didn't appeared with that frequency months ago.
