Of course you don't have to go into a degree with any sort of future career in mind. There are so many graduate programmes out there that look at the skills that university taught you, rather than the content. Not all English Lit majors become English teachers. :p Don't think too narrowly and believe your degree subject choice has to be directly applied to your career.

I really can't imagine spending 4 years studying a subject that I wasn't that interested in. It's hard enough with something you enjoy.

Hey, I'm just thankful that they aren't making me go into medicine or health or something like that. And the things I'm interested in have so many other people interested in it that there's no way I can compete.... plus it won't pay good. (eg: GFX designer). Besides. I'm a 15 year old in gr 11 without a single graphic course and I only took art once in gr 9 for my "arts" credit. No university would accept me :p

Pfft, my Boy did his entire degree in Graphic Design (in the UK where we don't major, we choose a subject when we're 17 and that's it) and he's doing alright for himself now. :p

Right now I'm only going for my associate's (unless I decide to transfer to a four year school before I get my degree) and I'm a visual arts major, but I'm not really interested in pursuing art as a career anymore, not to mention I never knew what I wanted to do in the first place, so I'm probably going to switch to a more general liberal arts major.

    Concept Art/Digital Animation.

I don't WANT to be an animator, but to be a concept artist, you apparently have to be able to do just about everything short of voice acting.

I hope I'll go into mechatronical engineering.

My only advice, to anyone who wants to be an engineer, is to stay the fuck away from Electrical Engineering. Seriously. Fuck. That. Shit. I don't know if my hatred for this EE stuff stems from my hatred for electrostatics/everything related to that, or from the terrible professors I've had in my EE classes. :/

Well, it's about to be official.

Changing to a Political Science Major with a Minor in Education. (Considering double majoring by adding in Journalism... but I'm gonna see if this burst in my motivation fades too quickly. :p)

    What made you switch?

Yep. Fairly lame profession and boring as hell. Good thing I'm not doing the normal stuff at CVS and such. That would suck. =(

I would like to go into Dentistry

That's a good career goal. From a financial standpoint I personally think its better than being a physician since dentists get most of their payments in cash. Not as much insurance bullshit and most of the daily duties can be
handled by hygienists you can easily pay for. I study genetics and I'm a loner in my major, most of my friends are in other fields. I'm the teacher's bitch till I make a name for myself or get a doctorates. However, there's always the option of going into the medical industry field. We neopians know how expensive medicine is. No fucking healing faerie every 30 minutes in real life.
