Most older players got their initial wealth from early RSing (think: less crowded shops) and from good investments. Most of them weren't very rich until recently when their item values skyrocketed. They look rich now because their shop sizes costed them about 1/10-1/20th of what we pay today, and training was very different.

Yup. Major emphasis on the investment part though, RSing can you make you rich, but doubtful to net you wealth in the multi billions.

Everything was different back then. Games didn't have a 1000np limit when neo first started. I remember that. Plus investments would be key as well like everyone else has mentioned
