I want it but it will make my NC balance weird looking with the 25nc, which you can't buy anything with. This reminds me of the time I somehow ended up with 20MS points when everything costs either 400 or 800 MS points.

actually ive never bought any NC ever and had over 1500
and only won scarab thing twice not sure where i got other NC from but i think i still have the items i bought with it

How in the world do you end up with over 1500 NC and not know where it came from?

I think it's just for that monkey crap game. If you purchase things in THAT virtual world, those items will disappear. I doubt it carries over for Neopets or the NC itself.

wrong thread to post in. but to answer your question, its cause its an item that can morph into something else, and a chance to get a bonus item *which is usually worth more than 4 times the initial value*.

It might just be a glitch. Report it to TNT. There was that time when the "free" goodie bag actually cost you nc but once you reported it TNT would fix it all up. How much did you lose?
