i am just wondering what causes these change in the prices. I have only recently returned to playing neopets and am just wondering why there is such a big range of differnece between the prices of codestones is there a rarity factor that is different between them all or so

for example mau codestones are still at the 3.5k price range which is the price it was years ago
whereas eo codestone go for about 9-10k

was just wondering if this was a level factor or something. So as you get higher in the training camp at island training that more specific codestones are required thus some are a bit higher then others or if it was just random and it was the way that the market grew.

Well the prices change based on the need for them, and the need for codestones gets based on the people who want them for training, and that changes usually due to battle segments in plots like the last, and usually from that, the prices increase just as they usually would.

Also, to answer your question about the difference between main and eo etc, would be they are not all evenly distributed as re prizes etc, they are all in different quantities and i think some codestones get used specifically to train different stats(I think) so the need for strength might explain why eo would be needed and a lot more higher priced...maybe?

I think eo codestones are more rare, so the higher price reflects their rarity. As far as I know, as you go higher up in the mystery island training school there is not a bias towards one codestone or another. My active pet is currently training with a 5 codestone payment, and I don't think I have to get more eo codestones than any other codestone.

hrms i guess i might start tracking what i have to use in order to train up my pet and what codestones you use for what to see if there is some trend that it follows

just wanted to make sure that i wasnt missing out on something that was obvious
if it is just random luck then there is not much you can do to control it

most people just stop when they reach the last boost at 700, any higher than that won't have any effects on the icon-damage multiplier
Read this guide for more details on strength boosts

I personally just zap my pet, strength is currently around 420 (+70) courtesy of the 24 Altador Strength Potions I gave him that I purchased with my plot points, over 1000hp, SHIT ASS Defence, which I'll just use armored neggs to train defence once I reach the 700 boost.
I don't particularly care about agility and intelligence at this time

start playing Key Quest - on my main i played on and off throughout the week and had 100+ of each standard condestone in my safety deposit box. if the auto-trainer had been working better my pets would be stacked x.X

Have you looked into negging? With current prices, after 4+ lodestones it is cheaper to negg defense than it is to train (26k for Neggs vs +26k for codestones) :)

Sadly, Armoured Neggs had inflated up to 30k D:

I'm glad that the negg event has returned (that should deflate the neggs).

Im like 99% sure that all codestones are given out evenly.

The only problem right now is that there is nothing to bring, for instance, an Eo Codestone's price down.
And without something to bring an Eo Codestone down, it won't ever go down.

I doubt the negg event will drop the prices too much :/
The only time there was a big profit for me regarding neggs was during the Faerie Ruin's Plot time.
I was able to sell all my armoured neggs at 50k each, when I bought them at 26k each.
During this time, I also bought other neggs (icy negg etc) at lower prices (because negg faerie was frozen)
and traded them in for another profit :)

And with negging always comes the problem of hunger :/

    i need 100 ASP to get to 700 Str. 1 ASP = 270k = 27m

its interesting that if the luck of codestones is given out evenly what cuased the major increase in some of the codestones and not in the others unless someone decided to hoarde them all and cause a price increase themselves

Well it would depend on supply (how many of each are given out and how often) and demand (how many of each codestone is requested when training, some codestones might be asked for more often than others). Then on top of that you've got people who decide to hoard codestones, fluctuations in negg prices and so on, there's lots of different variables involved.

the codestone depend vary during the war plot it increase even though there alot supply coming from random prize from the BD mobs. I Believe is how much stock is currently available in that caused the price. Eo is snap faster then the rest of the codestone

Thank god for KQ, otherwise, codestone prices would be over the roof. Also, Bri is really common because of Monotony.

Concerning Eo Codestones, I have no idea why they are that much. I'm thinking there has got to be that one codestone where it is inflated because of resellers.

So far I've tracked my codestone usages, and Eo are infact ahead of all others, even though it is a slight amount.

hrms i am starting to track my usage now and it seems that there is an even spread still with a few of the more expensive ones being used slightly more.
am wondering if this trend will continue as i continue to track my data. hopefully that might explain why certain codestones are at their prices

I would love to see your raw data on this! I've only recently started making note of mine (I'm at 4-6 codestones per stat depending on pet) and so far they're all roughly even bar Eos which are *lower* than others. My sample size is pretty shitty though, around 300 codestones and it's mostly all training level :)

Yeah, if anything I've found that the number of Eos that I have to use is a bit lower than everything else. You won't see me complaining, however. :)

yeah i've started to keep track but i am also trying to keep track of them separately as well to see if there is any correlation between str and eo i guess because a lot of people would be training str and level only and not worry about defense and am wondering if this why the cost of EO is higher, will find out shortly but my sample size is even smaller than yours since im only using 2codestones at a time =p newbie pet

Lately I just finished up training strength and Eo was needed a moderate amount of the time. I'm currently training endurance and have only seen Eo maybe once in the 6 times i've started to train. I remember the days Eo was about half the price it currently is now.

My thoughts are that people are pricing codestones like they are because they're adding their own rarity to the codestones so to say. It doesn't matter how rare they are nor how often they're given out randomly and/or used, but to have a few codestones that cost more than the others would bring in a nice bit of profit for when they sell. And this is on top of people who hoard them to cause some inflation.

    just my 2cents
