I want to start writing again. However, I'm having some difficulty getting started. Basically, I'm looking for some inspiration. What initially prompted me to go to romance writing was the quote from Hamlet, "When I first saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew." Then, playing through SilverStitch's games on Newgrounds... well, I just got in a lovey-dovey mood.

I'm looking for people willing to share their relationship stories with me (or everyone, if you'd like to post in comments, or just give me links). It might seem like a bit of a stretch, but I'm working on a story for a new girl, and quite frankly, I'd prefer not to write about my memories, past relationships or the like.

To anyone who's willing to lend a hand, thanks in advance.

-Jon

P.S. For the record, I'm looking for cutesy, relationship starting, happy times, etc. stories. I'm not looking for anything excessively vulgar/sexual.
Edit 1: I actually signed the right name for the right forum. I'm kinda shocked.
Edit 2: Post number 1000!

This isn't personal but it's a kind of a neat idea I came up with.

It's really meant to be a short story to be honest but maybe you'll find a way to extend it.

The story starts with a couple on a date. Everything is going great, the reader really gets a sense that these two are meant for each other and all that noise. But at the same time the reader is somewhat perplexed by little oddities. Multiple times the guy will call the girl by a different name but she will respond as if it's her real name and always has been. The events on the date seem to coincide exactly with what they plan to do. When they start to get bored with the movie, the movie ends. When they go for a taxi ride it comes to halt exactly when their conversation is finished, in about 5 mins as apposed to the 20 mins it would normally take.

Towards the end the reader starts to clue in on what's going on when the girl confronts the guy. Basically it's taking place in the guy's dream. He's dreaming about a girl he's madly in love with but he doesn't know her name thus his dreams keep coming up with different names.

He wakes up in class or on the bus and the girl is near by. Their stop has come or the class is finished and as she's leaving she drops a hair pin. He picks it up and contemplates whether he'll give it to her and possibly get to know her name. It's a decide-on-your-own kind of ending.

One time I was drinking some beer, jager and smirnoff. This girl was drinking some shit... we locked eyes, spoke for a while, then tried to find a room. We made love. Beer goggles love. "Fuck yeah you have a great ass", he said with exasperation. "hahaha.... uh thanks, I guess", she said with what sounded like a pounding noise from far away.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm really hoping to capture that feeling of wonderment from a new relationship, feelings of longing for the other, cute crap that you've done together (thanks PRBM)... all that stuff :p

Here's an idea for you, a girl gets out of a tough relationship, goes to a male friend to get some help as she has nowhere else to go. Through his support of standing by her in her time of need, and letting her cry on his shoulder as she speaks of the troubles she's going through daily with some personal issue or another, the girl slowly starts to realize the guy is what she'd been looking for all her life.. some months or so later they start dating. She knows she will never leave him, and that after being with him, no one could ever compare.

I've seen it done a few times before ^,^

I actually have a true story base on myself. But I'm a little embarrassed to share.. If you really can't get anything nice, you could PM me. I'll give you a rough idea of the story and maybe if you're really interested I could tell you more after that.

I love to write, too. But because of my limited vocabulary, I decided to give it a pass. :(

lol the other way that this story is done is that the guy that the girl awlays turns to likes her alot but she only sees him as a friend but always turns to him in the troubled times. He is always their to support her but one day he would just with that she would notice him instead of all the other guys that she has dated

Thanks for the input. However, this whole thing blew up in my face (that's what I get for signing a lease with my ex; it seems like most women can't handle that idea of that) so my desire to put any effort into this :-P

What I kinda like in relationship stories are women with particularly strong personalities that kind of offset the whole damsel-in-distress trope that's only been plaguing literary society for the past few millennia. Have a woman who's headstrong, stays out of the view, and aloof. Somewhere along the line there's gotta be something that breaks that image--some traumatic event or big confession that reveals her inner emotional weaknesses. And let's not forget that guys have tragic weaknesses too. They have to complement each other, go hand-in-hand.

I always like stories that play with alternative universes as well, gives this whole sense of choice to the whole thing and makes it nonlinear. Linear stories are great and all, but addressing even just a few "what-ifs" is awesome in my book.

    Good luck. :)
