I've been stressed lately even to the point of having insomnia. I do workout: excercise / lift weights. But it's almost a normal thing now that I don't relieve as much. If that makes sense.
I need some help on this. I've been pretty stressed out for awhile, but it's actually getting to me physically and emotionally/mentally. And I know I won't get past it in a day, weeks or what not.

But I need some suggestions, how'd you let your stress out?
Yes, music does help. Buahaha.

Some days I choose specifically to unwind. I usually do this:

-Finish a set amount of work. (Makes leisure time way better.)
-Get a hard lifting session in.
-Go home and have a good meal/shake.
-Shower, exfoliate, shave, etc. General manscaping.
-Relax on the couch, play some Xbox, make plans.
    -Get lifted.
    -Relax with friends.
-More computer and video games until sleep. Fall asleep with my Dre Beats headphones and some nice music.
    -Sleep late.

These days make me feel amazing.
Today is one of those days :D

Different type of exercise maybe? Definitely the best thing I've found and it helps to have a break to routine so do something you don't usually. I'm playing ridiculous amounts of squash at the minute to get through exams.

Probably depends on the cause of the stress. If it's from being cooped up revising etc, you probably need to use up as much energy as possible. If it's from doing a lot, then you need to relax and unwind more.

Maybe you should finish the song that you've been making.
The final product could release some stress and ultimately make you happy.

Smoking, going on walks in the woods, and going to sleep. I like to forget about things and repress bad memories, probably not good, lol.
And hot showers, or you could also have some wine. : D
A clean living area is less stressful than a messy one. :p

there's also therapeutic candles, and foooood.

It's not for everyone and you might object to it but talk to a therapist about drug therapy...

I've found reading to be extremely relieving for me, and I can usually fall asleep within 10 minutes if my body is tired.

Definitely a vote for sex as stress relief. Also, mindless games are good if you don't get frustrated at them. Play some games in zen mode on neo or something. No winning... just mindless activity.

Do a sport that you like. As for me, I love Basketball. The day before my exams I was stressed out as shit, so I took an hour off studying and went down to play basketball with my friends. Although it may seem that you've studied 1 hour less, but in fact, purging out all the stress will make you study better and sleep better. I felt really good after perspiring it all out.

Chocolate helps, and probably skipping my workout for the day, instead going out and exploring somewhere new. The excitement tends to wash the stress away, especially if you're on routine.

I agree, sleeping does wonders. Talking about your stress to something could help, holding anything in is bad, so don't do it. Also, eat your heart out, you'll get fat and feel good<3

Whenever I'm stressed, this is what I happen to do, as I have to get de-stressed as quickly as possible (I have a medical condition which is exacerbated by stress, and because it's immune system based, I can get really sick if things get too bad)

-Sing until I go hoarse, even if you're not a good singer, this always seems to help for me, partner it with listening to your favourite songs.

-Learn a new skill/develop an existing one, I find it helps me take my mind off things, and usually decreases stress, so I can then later think about what is stressing me out with a lower stress level, and then consider better the best path to take

-Talking the issues out with someone, your friends, parents, shrink, even strangers. Everyone can have a unique view on the situation, and can give you solutions to the cause you may never have even considered

    - Write it out, like a journal type thing. You don't have to show anyone, but it's always a great relief to just get things off your chest

-Do something you know relaxes you, like a hot spa or something, or try out a massage or something like that.

And, once your stress does subside, even though it's nigh on impossible, try to stay out of stressful situations. If your insommia gets too bad, I suggest trying first some herbal treatments, because regular medical sleeping pills can knock you about a bit.

With how seriously it seems to be affecting you though, I do suggest you see a shrink of some description, we make fun of them, but as someone who's been seeing one for literally her whole life, they really do help.

Cooking anything that isn't macaroni and cheese or on the barbecue would just make it more stressful for me. Also, shaving makes you less stressed? wtf.

Only advice I can give is smoke, 'tis what I do.

I say on the news the other night they make a stress relief drink. It looked sort of like an energy drink but it helps you relax. So maybe try one of them.
