I think there's a B.Phil too (though we all know that philosophy and music degrees are pretty useless :p).

it shows when back when i was at riverside during the freshmen year before i transferred, there were only 2 new incoming students in the philosophy major in my orientation group. Every other group consisted of at least 20 people and there were just these two guys standing there for philosophy

You can also get Bachelors/Masters/Doctorates in Education, too. They have their own suffix.

ok fine i guess it is an "arts" degree, honestly im not a stickler for details like this and never looked it up.
History is just a stepping stone for me into law.

The kind of degree your getting is a minor detail? What the shit is wrong with you? O_o

its a minor detail because as far as im concerned since i'm not good enough at math to do a science or math major, any of the humanities majors are all essentially the same thing

    I'm keeping this for posterity.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just do a degree in law rather than history and switching over? O_o

there is no degree in law, but there is political science, and after taking an under div class of that i was convinced that it would be better to just do history instead.

I wasnt about to take a bunch of hard classes if i could take easier classes and still have the same chances of getting into law school.

Besides its already shameful enough already that im at UCLA and am in a humanities major, i always try to dodge the question of what college do you go to when people ask, cause it always follows up with oh what major?

Think we only offer the BPhil at Oxbridge for some reason. A friend of mine studied Philosophy at Warwick and I'm suuure he has a BA.
And meh, I'm walking into my dream job 5 days after my final recital, not many graduates who can say that at the minute. :p

Anyway, Paris, I lived there for 4 months, not sure I will ever be going back.
Go to Marche aux Puces de Cliganancourt for the flea market, it's huge, lots of French people, tourists seem to have trouble finding it so look it all up in advance. S'pose Pere Lachaise is probably considered touristy but you know...lots of famous dead people. A lot of the museums and galleries aren't actually overly touristy but maybe better to think of something you're particularly interested in and searching for it, or just popping into ones you pass.

Although if you're going to be in Paris, you may as well do the popular stuff while you're there.

    I'm keeping this for posterity.

Americans are mental and don't offer it as as undergrad.

Surely if you're good enough at your particular instrument they wouldn't care if you have a degree in music or not? Or is that job actually regarded as a graduate job?

It's a weird one where, unless you're some sort of virtuoso, in order to get good enough at an instrument , you need the decent teachers that are only really available at conservatoires, plus my degree dedicates far more time to performance than the standard BA Music available at unis. I used all 6 of my UCAS choices and turned them all down and accepted my place here through CUKAS instead because I'd have struggled to get the tuition I needed otherwise. It's doable, although most of the musicians I know who perform went on to do a performance based Masters.

Studying any other degree...well....again, doable but it needs a LOT of dedication. A normal week, I put in around 30 hours a week in practice time. Doing a degree in a non-related subject on top of that would be exhausting.

Especially as we use words from lots of different languages, and make up new ones if your puny arts crap is insufficient for our needs.
Bow before our dominance of the realm of language.

lets try and get a bit back on topic please,

during the class orientation the professor mentioned as an example that some people who had gone on the program in previous yearshad done their presentations on the catacombs in Paris, Has anyone visited this before? Im not so big on looking at dead people, but bones are fine so long as they arnt corpses preserved or otherwise.

Bones are corpses that are "otherwise".
You're right, it's a damn good thing you didn't go for a science degree.

    Also, on topic? lolno.

I already responded telling you things and you ignored it.

    *yawn*

Catacombs, there's a lot of skeletons. Like, a serious amount of bones. They're pretty touristy though...*shrugs*

I hear it's possible to get lost for a lifetime in the Paris catacombs.
    I'd strongly advise you visit.

That's the last time I invite you into my lair.

Does it really count as an invite if they're bound, gagged and blindfolded?

Sorry. :( The bone decor is just a little unconventional.
