Hey, thought it might be pretty cool for everyone it write a little about what they do for work? I realize there are some people still here at school, studying, but they could ask people about specific jobs etc. I guess it makes sense for me to start.

I am in the Royal Australian Navy. Been serving for five and a bit years now. Overall it's a really good job. The money is good for what i do, and the benefits are awesome. I am an Electronic Technician, which means my main role is to maintain and set up the combat system, radars and sonar. Its a real interesting job and get to work with some pretty cool stuff.

It can get a little boring out at sea, with no internet, long hours and cramped living spaces, but you get paid more when posted to a sea-going ship. A lot of people seem to think our wage is tax free, it's not, i pay tax like everyone else. The exception is if you are in an active war zone, you do not pay tax and get "danger money. One of the best perks is Rental Allowance. They subsidize my rent, so i can afford to live in a brand new apartment with views of the Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Well i guess if anyone wants to know more they can ask.

There are times that i hate my job because of the hours i have to work though, but it all comes hand in hand. The things ya gotta do to create a life for yourselves eh?

Juuust finished university, I did a music degree at a conservatoire and now I'm a violinist in a professional orchestra.

Decent enough money, I work slightly irregular hours (so I'm not at work now at 3pm on a Friday to even out the fact that I have a rehearsal tomorrow), more so when we have concerts scheduled. Nice amount of travel, by mid September I'll have played in Germany, here in London, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany again, the Netherlands, France and Romania.

    Essentially my dream job. :p

I almost joined the Navy as a Bandie, but i was not competent enough in another instrument. I was a cornet player. Played in a few local and regional silver bands while i was living in Scotland.

Right now, I'm in college. So, I'm not really working for a living technically.

However, I own my own business right now and make my money doing web design and internet marketing. I make good money for a college kid, especially considering all of my other expenses are covered by my parents. Most of the money just gets saved or spent on nonsensical things. I'm starting to invest more money into the stock market and other various business ventures.

I also do a slew of other strange things. My good friend is becoming somewhat of a personality in the food industry, and has a lot of various things to manage. I manage all of his event booking, and accompany him to all of his events and get paid for that as well. I usually photograph for him and talk to people seeing what they need. We usually sell another group on an event and a website, so we both make out well.

I really just think of myself as an entrepreneur currently, because I am always looking for new ways for me to profit on random things. It's been working well..

When I graduate, I will have a degree in MIS/Marketing. I will most likely be working for a financial company or tech company. I have connections to the CIO of pretty big corporation and he has already said he wants me to intern there next year, and my uncle is the Global Head of Security at another big company, so hopefully one of them can get me a real job :p

Whenever your orchestra comes to Brazil let me know, might be close to where I live :p
Right now I'm "resting" while I wait for my classes at university to start (August) and teaching my grandma on how to use the computer :p.

I'm in school, but I've got this pretty nice part-time job at a grocery store. I'm a cashier, and it's a real easy job. The managers are nice and are flexible to my schedule.

Currently in school finishing up my degrees in physics and math.

For the summer I am working in a plasma lab working on some numerical coding, and probably going to try and get the code to work properly on the new GPU cluster my professors just finished building.

Afterwords...going to grad school. After that? No idea, either try for a professor or industry, one of the grad students working in the same lab just started a job with the oil industry doing some computational stuff, so no idea what I will do after grad school, but that is years from now.

Did they force it on you? Was it the easiest choice? Do you immediately regret it?

My parents know i'm too stupid/lazy to be a doctor. They pretty much forced it on me, and being asian I have little choice. I would've gone Poly Sci into law or something. This will most probably be one of the many things I'll regret for the rest of my life.
