So yea.. i read someone lost an important item while giving an avatar service and she even when into that person's account... I'm very sorry you lost it.. was hoping that service would last..

Ok here's the story.. so i was wondering.. even when we go on to the person's account and handle the trading of item... they still can scam us.. but will this method below prevent such an event?

1) log into their account first.. then log out.. ( Why log out after logging in??? cos based on experience.. i know that 2 computers can be online in 1 account at the same time.. but when you log out in one com.. the other com will be logged out as well... )

2) log in again.. change password.. then log out...

3) log in and log out and finally log in... (yes being paranoid here... maybe this step is just extra precaution...)

4) transfer item.. get avatar/etc... transfer back...

5) change password to the one that person gave... log out...

Do you guys think this method may be safe? cos for them to change password they need the previous password first... so that will ensure for that 3-5 min they cant even access their account...

This is when we are doing it on our own without middleperson involved.. So what are your views? You think they are still able to scam?

This does sound like a safer method to prevent scamming. Wouldn't say step 3 is being paranoid though, better to be safe than sorry.

Hopefully all lenders would adopt this method. Such a shame that they have to go through so much hassle for being nice.

In theory it sounds good and i have tried it out with a friend.. unless scammer have a special way to access their account even when we change their password.. in which i absolutely cant come up with a good plan for that..

Does using proxy for this prevent scamming? or is the proxy merely for TNT freezing prevention method?

    Wouldn't this work?

    • Change email, password and PIN
    • Lend item (and get avatar or whatever)
    • Send item back to own account
    • Change email, password and PIN back
    • Log out

they can always request for their "new password" while u're doing it. i suppose at the end of the day, speed helps :p
unless u temporarily change their emails too :p

    • Log out

i'd say, log out and relog in after step 2. (:

Wouldn't be 100% safe Waser, because you can only change your e-mail once a day. So thus the person who is lending would have access to the e-mail thus password and pin after they re-change it back.

Also, changing your password, pin and e-mail so often, especially when someone is accessing your account from a different IP (regardless if it's a proxy within the same region) isn't the smartest thing to do. I say just lend to people you trust; which online is a little harder to gauge.

Is it common to give your PIN to someone when allowing them access to your account?? Because I would have thought retaining the PIN would be the one way you could ensure that person couldn't, y'know - rob you blind. O.O

Its ok if its chokato TCG or ZDAP or FQD.... the collatarel can be reached quite easily... but imagine trying to come up with the collateral for BGC or MSPP?
