I'm seconding the certain shops shouldn't be available to people under 500 posts thing that was mentioned a while back.

It's getting to the point that even at 5:30 AM EST, I can't grab absolute shit due to all of the autobuyers running around. And I know how to RS with the best of the legits. :|

Or at least enforce the random shop startup somehow so they can't just restart the program until they get a shop they like.

my zdap was just a couple hours ago, not yesterday so it wasn't me you lost to. I hope you have better luck the next time it comes up though!

The only problem I have with limiting the shops and forcing people to spend a certain time in 1 shop is that it would likely make it much easier to be found out and iced, I would think.

I would much rather see it force a certain shop list instead. There are also times when it wont leave after a restock so I stop/start to do that manually to make it look more legit also.

I know I'm a very new member and won't carry much weight, but if we're pushing for the success of members and potentially highly contributing members, then I think there would be a better way to limit the program than this.

Damn :p. It wasn't really a secure idea anyway since we were concentrating on the obscurity of the location to achieve security. Security through obscurity is never a good security policy if it is used alone without any other type of security :p.

We need people to help price the under used shops. Giving you a set list, no matter the profit range, wouldn't help us at all. New members would simply pick a popular store and hope for quantity rather then just quality restocks.

Saying that you have to stay in a shop for a specific amount of time wouldn't give you a higher freeze rate then the program already has. Staying 45 minutes in shop 50 is the exact same as staying in shop 1 for 45 minutes.

Using you as a reference, do you think that a member with 11 posts should have the same chance as a member with 500+ posts? What is your incentive, from this program, to post more? Sure you may have to click stop / start a few times until you get the store you want but other then that this program gives you no incentive to stick around.

What are some other ways you think would be good at limiting the program? Good ideas are good rather from new members or old.

I guess we could always connect a number of buys per day limit to each users' post count if we wanted to be really evil. :shifty:

I think that forcing the newer members to the less used shops would accomplish both. Like you said, regardless of profit margin, it is those shops that need priced more. So limit the newer users to only those shops. Essentially forcing them to use a manual list for those specific shops. And then that gets opened up once the user hits the 500 posts or whatever the permanent criteria is.

I agree that As a newer member i dont have as much 'right' to use the program provided in the best of the best of shops. So if you keep the 'find shop at random on start' but limit which shops are included, I think you'll accomplish both goals.

Now, as far as how to accomplish that without having two completely different versions of the program, I dont know. maybe thats not even a problem... that part is not my strong suit.

Funny how Abrosia decided to go price the shop when there are still MPs in the shop begging to be bought. Would it be possible to have an option to decide if Abrosia should give UBs higher priority than putting the items away unless you have a full inventory or not enough money?

The only MP in the shop that it wanted to try buying was the "Ghost Shoyru Morphing Potion" when it decided to price the shop, and it already tried it. Buying his the highest priority. The program is not made any other way, lol.

The DB tends to malfunction because some dumbass Neopets member prices the item way too high in their shop and we don't have super shop wiz to work with. :/ If the database is not working out, try using a manual list.

Well, I'm a newer member. I remember coming to NeoCodex a few years ago, and then I took a hiatus from Neo. Flash forward, I am back on Neo and joined this site maybe a week and a half ago. Just recently started posting, and I plan on contributing and staying on, but there would be less incentive for me to do so by limiting the program(s). =/

Would it be more incentive if you were told that you can't have the program at all until you reach 500 posts?

That's standard procedure at most sites :p

Pfff that's a load of crap. What incentive do you have if everything comes free? Whining about something not working does not count as contributing to the site, that's not just aimed at you by the way.

The post quality, content, and volume has gone up in the past month and the newer members are the only ones responsible for that. I thank them for that :D.

It just takes time to get established at a new site. That's just life.

I know, and that is why I didn't join any of the other sites. 500 posts is a lot of time and effort to put in before I get to use a program. Whereas here, I get the program, like it, and now I am posting and (hopefully) contributing. I still don't know how exactly I can contribute other from submitting data, but I definitely want to try because I like the programs and what I have seen of the community and I want to support that.
