From this thread, it seems like an almost squarish face is a prerequisite to being handsome.
I'd say it's more sharp features than facial shape.
Every pic posted here has a guy with sharp features. Wimmens love the angular faces!

Apparently in some parts of the world this guy is a tiny inside joke. In some other parts tho this is John Frusciante, a guitarist from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Isn't he simply gorgeous?
