If you want something, work hard to achieve it. Nothing is unattainable if you put your mind to it.

If not for an abusive asshole of an ex boyfriend, I'd never have met my wonderful partner. If not for some shit in my pre-teens that led to years of anxiety issues and depression, I'd never be the person I am today, with the opportunities I have and all the people I love around me. Something will always work out in the end.
All that "Don't trust anyone" stuff is so depressing. I'm just going to go be my own ball of sunshine over in the corner.

There will always be incompetent retards in positions of power.
Indeed. Everywhere I go in life, there is someone in charge who doesn't deserve to be.
As for me, I've learned that it's always best in life to be completely honest. Better to get in trouble for something I actually did, rather than something I did and then lied about.

My friends would sometimes bug me that I spent too much time in the lab, and worked too much during times when I "wasn't getting paid", like evenings. I believe in working on improving yourself if you're not getting paid money to do it, and to me, that was partly what the lab experience was that summer. That summer, my project got finished a day or so before I was due to end my time at the lab. "Spending too much time in the lab" resulted in a free trip to Washington D.C. to present my research, got my work published, and resulted in me winning a national scholarship.
That's all because I decided to skip a couple movies during the evenings and focus on that. I still enjoyed myself, don't get me wrong. I just didn't go every single time. A couple days more of messing around, and a lot of that stuff probably would not have happened.
