As I was going to neopets to see last nights earnings I seen this wonderful little article.

A man who was at a Rangers baseball game with his son dies after trying to catch a home-run ball and falling over the railing?

I tried going back to yahoo's homepage to find the article, but actually had to go into my history because it seems they took it off the homepage.

I'm just curious as to what your guy's reactions to this are.

EDIT:I'm also curious to know what you guys think about this:

http://sports.yahoo....urn=mlb-wp11800

In next Monday's home-run derby, the MLB is going to use 24 karat infused leather panels in some of their baseballs. The gold infused balls are only going to be brought out for each slugger's last hit. This means that there are 8 gold infused balls total.

Thoughts?

They'll add nets to the very ends of the stadiums now. That's probably what will happen. To catch retards.

But actually, I have no idea what they will do, because that will conflict with the game.... Maybe install robots to catch falling retards a little higher than usual?

Haha, good, the first response is someone that agrees with me. There was talk of raising the rails a bit, but that's not going to stop people from trying to catch them.

People are just idiots now. I feel sorry for the kid, but his dad is a moron.

Also, this is the second person to die this season apparently.

Just need sensors to determine when a person is falling from a height that cannot be possible by a normal baseball player, then activate sensors below that spot.

Would be an easy fix, for the Japanese at least. The Japanese have a completely different philosophy of baseball though, so it won't be needed in their area.

The article I read initially had said that Josh Hamilton was throwing the fan a ball and he tried to catch it and fell, which IMO would be a worse way to go than by trying to catch a home run ball. People need to be more aware and responsible.

That's actually what the article says. My bad. Regardless though, it's the same principle.

    Also, grats on 1000 posts.

Yeah that is intense, I know Josh Hamilton has to be taking it bad, as articles on ESPN and other sites have reported. I have no idea how he is going to play tonight.

I doubt they're going to do anything about it. It sounds like a complete accident.

Josh Hamilton is a beast. He'll probably be fine lol.

He was going to catch it for his son, he also brought him a glove before the game so they could catch one together

Also, the player who threw the ball was the man's fav player.

Wow... this is somewhat sad... but it's not the first time that an accident of this kind occurs. A bunch of soccer fans have died because of the grandstand falling down and getting crushed by the massive weigh of the people =/

That's really unfortunate...and those gold-infused baseballs are just going to promote this behaviour. I personally never got into baseball, so I don't really understand why people try so hard to get a baseball.

I guess it's sorta like a souvenir of a great memory. The father probably wanted to give the baseball to his kid so that the kid would remember that day the spent watching Josh Hamilton play with his dad. Now that I've written this, I've made myself sad. :(
