So I've been stuck with a bunch of HTS plushies, foods, etc, that I have hoarded over the past few months. I just recently read Plunk's guide on selling these items, and a new idea just struck me. I find that it's idiotic that NP lets you put a wishlist on your Trading Posts lots but does not let "potential traders" to search these wishlists if they wish to trade in items rather than neopoints. So I was wondering, would it be possible to make a system that would be able to go through TP wishlists to find lots that ask for certain items? I know this might not be excessively useful, but I just thought I'd get it out there to get some other opinions.

Good idea for something new. But I doubt there's many wishlists out there looking for HTS items :p

...I was thinking about such a system myself last week. No clue how it could be done, but I'd certainly use it.

Mmm perhaps go through every single trade currently up and scan the wish-lists ... But that would incredibly time consuming and it would have to be updated constantly.
    Probably not gonna happen.

It's a great idea and I would definitely use this function if it existed, but I know there can be faults on the user's end with this. There are some demand for HTS items (mostly for galleries, Fountain Faerie Quests, etc..) and people who are searching for specific items will either misspell it or type the item name in a way that would not be recognizable by a normal scan. For example, someone wants a Faerie Queen Snowglobe from their lot. Some person will type it as Fairy Queen Snow Globe or some lazy-ass person makes some obscure and unknown abbreviation for the item like FQS. Even with a perfect system with a scan for wishlists, users can just screw it up.

Great idea. This is no reason why this idea should be shot down. It would produce results. Something that Neopets can't do.

What we can do is have a program search the tp and list all the wishlists and predict some prices for you. Then you can view the original wishlists and decide from your own which preidiction is best to use or enter your own value.

This has a great potential to become something really useful, but as I see it now, there's too many faults and breaks in the idea to try and get good results.

Actually, I think i'll go right now and ask TNT if they'll implement something like this..

This isn't really practical since there's no way to really find all available trades other than continuously monitoring the 20 new trades list. :/

I don't know what kinda HTS items you guys are getting, but the ones I get aren't on any "wishlists" and people usually don't put HTS items on their wishlists, they put they want NP. :/
But in any case I usually just put it up on the TP and wait. If somebody is searching for it, they'll bid or neomail me asking for a price.
I really don't understand what you guys are asking for here.. another program so you don't actually have to log in? Lol
In that case we need a Auto-Dailies program instead. :p

I nominate an auto bumper program that lets you know when someone posts and auto bumps your board every 30 secs. lol

Thanks for the input. When I posted I realized it wouldnt be a very pragmatic idea on the programming aspect of it. I think the end line was to see if there is support for such n idea and to ask TNT to implement it. Obviously they're probably too busy cleaning their site that they can't make any meaningful fixes...
