I think I already threw out the paper from this morning... I remember it was right around $200,000 worth of cattle.

Nothing like the Texas judicial system to take care of criminals, eh? :p

Lol, indeed. I could see them making the guy pay back the potential profit he stole and serve up to 10 years, but 99?? Gotta love Texas.

Cattle are valued property! Especially in Texas, where cattle are tied to land value as a ranch. Good riddance to a criminal :p

ahh you beat me to it!

He's lucky he didnt get shot on sight, that's what I would do, that's what anyone would do here, especially in this day and age, when my family relies on the cattle to provide food for the family.

Might as well be kidnapping the Lindberg baby, being a cattle thief in Texas.

At least he has a bed to sleep on, will be fed regularly, will have a place to bathe, and do leisurely activities. That's more than I can say for the rest of us.

Depending what prison he gets sent to... have you seen some of those prison shows that are based on prisons in Texas? Bitches get killed for being normal... if you dont join gangs in some prisons you get raped and murdered by inmates.

LOL I googled this story in the hopes it was a typo. It wasn't.

It appears though that he is a serial cattle rustler, and is wanted in other states and has been a repeat offender for a decade. Harsh, but fair IMO.

99 years for cattle theft, wouldn't want to know how many years it is for a first degree murder charge, life of course, but the number would still be interesting ^^

    The Chair. :p

Bog, I'll look up the number later on... cattle prices are a bit crazy right now due to severe drought, a lot of ranchers are selling them off as they can't feed them. :(

Livestock is their livelihood, him stealing would be the equivalent of arson in a city business.
    Give ALL the years!
