I had enough for tuition (almost) but not enough for full boarding :/ I could afford it now but I'm in my third year already so why transfer and have to re-take certain courses? :/

And so? I hypothetically slept with my pre-cal teacher. How else did I get a 99 in the course?

You're asian, anything below 99 would dishonor your family.

If you are not first, you are not trying hard enough.

Actually though, I have super asian parents, but they don't really care about grades.
I stress more about my grades than they ever did. Still, it's probably because I stress so much that they don't have to.

We've got a 2-week schedule..with all the days having completely different lessons. Got 4 bits of coursework&homework over a 2 day period..with one of them being a large art picture..plus the school I go to has just changed to an academy, with a lot of weird/terrible changes.
I've got Work Experience this year too, along with a load of mock and proper exams in the summer. Seeing as this is the first of two years though, I'm dreading next year, as it's normally 2-3 times worse :/

Oh, also, anybody else go to a high school in Britain?

    I did. :p

First September out of education, feels a bit strange knowing I won't be going back to anywhere this year.

Ooh, I can imagine! I've got some friends who've just left, and they feel a bit scared knowing that they're not in school anymore :/

Have said it before and I'll say it again... Just because you don't do the greatest in school or don't go to Uni, doesn't mean your life is fucked.

Paul Allen (Co-Founder of Microsoft) dropped out of Washing State University after 2 years.
Richard Branson (the 'Virgin' chain) left school at 16.
Michael Dell (Pcs Limited, renamed to 'Dell Inc') dropped out of University of Texas
Larry Ellison (Founder of Oracle) dropped out of both University of Illinois AND University of Chicago with no degree.
David Geffen (Built 'Dreamworks' with Steven Spielberg) never attended college.
Stanley Ho ('The King of Gambling' is responsible for a large portion of Macaus GDP) left college after several years with no degree.
Steve Jobs (Former CEO of Apple) left college after ONE semester
Dean Kamen (Inventor of the Segway, holds +80 US patents) dropped out of Worcestor Polytechnic Institute before graduating.
David Karp (Founder of Tumblr) dropped out of Bronx High School of Science at 15. He was homeschooled for 2 years following.
Ralph Lauren (Founder of Polo Ralph Lauren) studied and dropped out of a business course at Baruch College
Kirk Kerkorian ('Richest man in LA', has stakes in a number of high class Vegas Hotels) dropped out of school in Grade 8
Kevin Rose (Founder of Digg) Dropped out of University of Nevada. In 2006 was on the cover of Business Week subcaptioned with 'How this kid made 60million in 18 months'
Mark Zuckerberg (Founder of Facebook) dropped out of Harvard.

These guys all dropped out/never completed their studies, yet all of them managed to be highly successful. Sure, there are many who have also dropped out and never come close to the success of these guys, but there are also just as many who have COMPLETED their studies, and still never come close
Just want to remind people that just because you don't go to University, don't get the best grades in school etc, doesn't mean your life is over.

^This is what I've been trying to explain to my dad for the last 4 years, as I have no intentions of going to University.

But nowadays, teachers seem to think, that if you don't go to University, that you're going to end up on the streets or working in a horrible place or something for the rest of your life.

Just because a select few have managed to become successful doesn't belittle the fact that MOST of those who ARE successful HAVE gone to college.
You really shouldn't quit college and try to make it on your own because a few geniuses managed to do it. For every one Bill Gates, there's another thousand or more failures.

College graduates, on average, make a whopping one million dollars more in lifetime earnings than those with a high school diploma.
A college degree is the best way to protect yourself against unemployment. College educated individuals have much lower rates of joblessness than those with a high school diploma or less education
Many jobs in the fastest-growing industries such as health care, education, and business support services require a bachelor's degree or above-and the number keeps growing.
Those with college degrees have better health, exercise more, and smoke less. This is related to the fact that their employers are likelier to offer better health plans and perks like gym memberships.

It's one thing choosing not to go to college and realizing that you can still be successful with hard work and some luck

It's another to not go to college SO you can be successful xD

I wish I could have started school this fall. I was all set to start my online courses, but couldn't get my internet hooked up in time. :( I had it all paid for (FASFA loves single moms.) Had a time schedule planned out for myself to actually DO the work and everything. I'm bummed. :/ Now all i have to keep occupied is work 40 hours a week in a mindless, repetitive, desk job. Boo.

All those people were smart asses who didn't have parents who would MURDER you if you dropped out of school. Heck. I dropped sciences this year and my dad won't ever let me live it down. He still calls me a failure at life to our relatives :/

As long as a person has passion and drive for what they do, I believe that they'll succeed with or without college.

My college's term doesn't start for another week and a half. So no comment just yet on that part. :D

My first week was decent, I go to an adult school since i'm 19 and too old to attend a normal highschool. xD

I have the same teacher, in the same classroom all day. So pretty much 6 hours of him constantly talking >.<

Not too happy with the start of school, but I just got over an English presentation. So I don't have to worry about that.
