As per a graduation requirement for my degree, we have to write a research paper and present it to the faculty of the department here at my University. I have gotten a lot of responses on my survey so far, and am close to wrapping it up and finishing my paper and getting ready to present in a few weeks, but you can never have enough responses. Hopefully there are some of you out there in the community that can spare 3 minutes and take this survey for me. This is my best outlet for getting a diverse selection of people, as in from different areas of the country. Thus far, most of the participants are people at my school, and I would like to get some input from other areas of the United States.

I prefer that you be at least 18 years old when taking this survey, although I don't suppose that is the most important thing. All help is appreciated and your input will be recorded. The main thing I ask is that you live in the United States. The survey is about degrees of threat perception in the United States, so you can see what that is important. Thanks for taking the time to read this and helping me out by hopefully offering 3 minutes of your time to complete the survey. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post in the thread or PM me. And if you elect to help me out, I appreciate it more than you know.

TL;DR I need people to take my survey so I can finish my research paper for graduation.

    thank you for your help

Anyone taking it, be sure to hit next after page 1. I have had like 34 total responses today, and I have like 8 partial surveys and all 8 of them have people stopping after the first page. I doubt everyone said fuck it at that point, so I am guessing they didn't realize there was another page. Just throwing that out there. Thanks again!

A 20 year old from New Jersey from this site has attempted it 3 times, but has yet to complete it. Wasn't sure if you were having errors or what, but there is more than 1 page. Thanks for trying though!

That was to go along with people thinking that the government is the biggest threat to America. I thought of including no responses but if someone marks no response, it isn't of any use to me. That is why I asked to identify the biggest threat of each group (which of course assumes that any of them are threats) but I needed to collect data and not have stuff here, there, and everywhere. We have to turn in a critique of our own research and that is something that I am including, as well as the fact that I left off a race indicator, which could play into the results, but I forgot to include anything regarding ethnicity.

Staunch conservatives are likely to choose Barack Obama on that question in particular, primarily because of differences of opinions in his policies, like Health Care Reform, etc.

I wonder how many people taking this survey had no idea who some or most of the names were on it.

Probably a significant number although I don't guess there is really anyway to tell. I'd like to believe people are more apt to select names they recognize, versus those they have no clue about. I was going to put a question with 3 fake names, and only 1 real one, as kind of like a buffer to determine if I should only count the results of people who chose the correct one, but I am satisfied with the way it is going at the moment.

All done. Goodluck with your research!!

    Thanks a lot!

    gotcha
in several of my classes we have discussed making unbiased polls in order to prove/validate a thesis
and it is a lot harder than one would thing

I am up to like 126 participants so far which is good because I really didn't ask around that much yesterday. I'd like to get around 250 but if I can get to 200 I will be satisfied. Several other kids in the class don't have half as many as me, so I am in decent shape. I just have few outlets to get participants which I am grateful for. I will likely share the results here, especially anything I find surprising. This will all be done by December 16th. Potentially the 9th.

The questions that I found myself irking about were questions 10 and 11 (?) in regards to who is the biggest threat to America. Bin Laden is dead, Gadaffi is dead, Kimmy is probably dead too, and some other guy that I don't remember. It is possible you could put a specify box for those two questions? I felt pigeon holed to pick something that I don't perceive as a threat, especially when I have two confirmed dead people on the list.

That's all, hope that helps make your research a little more accurate.
