so I decided I would try the discovered treasure chests as I had money to waste and figured the potential prizes could be very good!

so I bought 5... junk in all of them. I was addicted.

bought 5 more. junk.

got mad and gave it a break. bought 3 festive stockings. got 1 HTS book worth 190k

bought 5 more chests and 2 stockings. nothing.

bought 5 more... junk!

figured what the hell, ill buy 5 more for the night. on the very last one I was getting mad at myself for wasting 1.25 million on 25 discovered treasure chests and getting nothing..

but on the last one I finally got a Pirate Krawk Morphing Potion worth around 3 million so im happy. I think I might even buy a few more chests....


edit: just did 15 more chests. pretty much nothing. a Pirate Blumaroo Plushie worth about 50k but thats it..

edit2: 10 more chests and nothing.

so thats a total of 50 opened discovered treasure chests for a total of 2.5 million and I got a 3 million np item + approx 150k of HTS plushies and misc items.

I think the Discovered Treasure Chests are around 50k now o: ~

I always open them ~ So far I've gotten a Pirate Kougra MP, Pirate Ixi MP, Pirate Wocky MP, Pirate Grundo MP, and a Pirate Meerca MP cX~

Unfortunately it's (apparently) rare to get PDEs/MPKPs/Pirate PBs/Pirate MPs and more common to get cheaper and more common items (full list of possible prizes http://www.neopets.com/~Esophagor), so unless you're terribly lucky/open a lot of Discovered Treasure Chests it's hard to get them o: ~

Yeah, the deflation is pretty bad. Unless it's a good price I usually see the auctions rot~

On topic, I've gotten a pirate paint brush and a pirate meerca MP from the chests I got.
I don't really think it is a good investment to buy them and open because the % of getting a good item is low, and even then the prices of these items are dropping.

Same here, only opened like 5 though... just the ones I get from doing the daily

I open these every time I get one...but I think I always get junk. That's probably a good thing. Otherwise, I'll buy a bunch to gamble on, probably with disappointing results.

I've never bought any but I always open the ones I find (10+ probably) and have only gotten garbage. Maybe I should just sell them?

lol, It would be interesting if there were statistics out there as to what items you could get. Then you'd be able to determine if you would make money over the long run after opening lots of chests. But ya, i figured you probably just got unlucky!
