I know this is a strategy some people employ, but I am not sure how exactly this is done effectively and to what end. I apologise in advance if this topic has been covered recently, but I didnt see anything after some brief searching.

Generally, so you only buy out a few items or a row of a shop (say if it is fully stocked at 24 items)? Or do you buy out the entire shop (or leave behind only the expensive items? Does a shop with 0 items have any greater chances of restocking than a shop already stocked at 6? 12? 18?

I am assuming noone knows for certain, but is there a 'generally accepted as true' line of thinking on this matter?

Thanks

From my understanding of buying out shops, people doing it to increase the number of rare items to appear. Buying out the shop completely does increase the chance of rare item directly by providing mores slot for a more rare item to occupy, thus a higher chance for a rare item to appear with more empty slots to occupy. However, simply having an empty shop/many item slots unoccupied doesn't guarantee the shop to stock up with r99's to appear more than usual.

Chances and quantities of an item appearing correspond with their rarity and chances are that an empty shop may just restock with all r80's and below while a different shop with one slot unoccupied may luckily stock a r99.

The practicality of this idea is evident with Half-priced day. People tend to AB (or even restock legitimately) higher profiting items because there are more slots for a high profit item to occupy. The cheaper common items are being bought by the general public and those bought items are constantly relinquishing slots for possible rare items.

To answer the "Does a shop with 0 items have any greater chances of restocking than a shop already stocked at 6? 12? 18?": "chances of restocking" is too vague. If you are referring to the number of items in the shop, it depends on the shop if that particular shop has more r70 items and lower. If they do, it's almost guarenteed that those cheap and common items are to restock no matter how many items are in the shop. For example, the Island Merchandise has many common items that restock constantly (assuming people are willing to buy out those junk) while Royal Potionary almost never stock up to max number of different items because their rarities are really high.

It really depends on the circumstances, what shop it is, ect... MOST people when they buy out a shop do so with 2-3 other people and they take out rows of items. The general idea is to clear all or most of the shop to get it to restock. The only shops this really is employed at is Battle Magic and Defense Magic then you sit and wait for those big super expensive stuff to *hopefully* restock. I've done this personally a little and I have gotten a Thyoras Tear and Squishy Shoyru Healing Stone there before. That was it though.
