To be fair, it doesn't matter whether they relate to one another though - you would still have to process something for pretty much the same amount of time, regardless of whether it makes sense or not. For example, you're writing a letter: what's faster, putting a lot of content into it and structuring it coherently, or just putting any words you feel like down?

I didn't take it because it just looks stupid. I can take it if you would like, but I can type upwards of 180 wars a minute, shadow and hydrogen, and noit can all attest to this.

And you are wrong. Its a lot easier to read/type something that makes sense then it is to type something that makes no sense at all, atleast for anyone with average or greater intelligence. When the staff was playing type racer against each other, we all did shit on excerpts from a book (Forget the name) that made no sense at all. It was like, "You could tell that she knew how to kidd, she could kidd him good, and thats what he liked, that she could kidd him" And we all typed about 20 wpm slower then we did on everything else, because we didn't expect the next word to be kidd, and so it took longer to process it.

I type 100 prescriptions a day, 5 days a week, while answering the phone and ringing up patients with fake smile. I type fast enough, I think.

I don't for a minute believe that you can actually type upwards of 180 words per minute. Sure, you can type fast, probably on par (if it's legit) with Bogs speed or slightly better but I'm doubting you can do 180wpm consistently.

As for your claims that the test is too hard, it's easier to type faster when you already know what you are going to type well in advanced (such as typing up something you have written down before). In my experience, some people who need to type quite quickly (people doing data entry) what they are typing does not actually always make sense to everyone else.

Heh try maintaining upwards of 90 WPM while doing medical transcription. Even people in the field trip over words like telangiectasia and symblepharon. My custom word list in my spell checker is full of crazy words because I hate it telling me that I've spelled something wrong just because it doesn't recognize it.

On the same note try legal transcription sometime. It's hard to continue typing fast when all you want to do is bash your head against the desk at how stupid people are.

Meh I was happy with 80wpm and I can touch type. It does help most of my work is computer based and typed.

And I never claimed the test was "too hard" I claimed its not a true test of how fast you can type because it tests both how fast you can type, and HOW FAST YOU CAN COMPREHEND. Its not a speed test alone, which makes it kind of pointless.

Ever noticed how much harder it is to read a sentence that uses poor grammar? You start reading it just find, and then reach a word that doesn't belong, and pause for a second to register that the word is there, and then keep going. Logically, your mind is capable of comprehending sentences that make sense a lot faster then ones that do not make sense. Thus, this test punishes you automatically for slower reading comprehension, over tests that use complete sentences.

yesterday i poked my finger a couple of times with a rusty needle, while felting my hair, so it got inflamed and now two of my fingers are bandaged. soooooooooo, i will try this out in a few days.

Oh this is bullshit and i am outraged. I take a speed test and all of a sudden my fingers decide they want to spell things correctly.
