I've seen a few Cottonelle ads lately that are trying to convince the population that today's toilet areas should no longer come equipped with the convenient toilet paper holder. Instead, they're pitching the idea that we should keep our toilet paper in a "roll holder", and we should place that thing on top of the toilet tank. Companies believe that they can advertise ANYTHING successfully (think pet rock), but come on. Reaching backwards, opening a roll holder, potentially dropping the entire thing into the toilet, it all seems so ridiculous, I can't even understand how this one made it off the drawing board.

Here's one of the ads if you haven't seen any as yet:

Do you support the removal of the friendly toilet paper wall holder?

Gross! The typical way of holding toilet paper means that you touch as few things as possible. Why would you want to have a box whose purpose is to stand between you and a clean arse, which collects a myriad of ass-germs to boot?

I have to agree, not to mention how extremely impractical it is.

I have honestly no idea. I didn't even think about the germs collecting on it! This just keeps on getting even more gross. Whew, at least this stupid fad doesn't seem to be catching on.

Yeah, that's totally impractical, what's wrong with naked toilet paper? their whole premise for the fancy toilet paper cover thing is that the "nice" toilet paper requires respect. Last I checked, we use toilet paper to wipe up various human excrements.

That toilet paper company has a very deluded interpretation of "respect" -.-

The only reason I could see for using one of those is if you had a rogue cat in the house :lol2:

When mine was a kitten the TP HAD to hidden or put up out of her reach, or I'd come home from work to a bathroom full of confetti :ohwell:

ahaha, I can't imagine there'd be many people lining to buy these.
They'd be mighty easy to pinch if public places decided to use em.

I'd only get it so I don't walk into the bathroom and see how my roommate left the roll halfway undone every time he's in there.

Can't wrap my head around why he does it.
