A little battery caused that much damage? Are you sure he wasn't smoking a firecracker instead? Shit.Whilst this was a once off incident, I find it interested to read that it has actually happened.
This article is intended mainly for those of you who use electric cigarettes. I'm sure it wont assist you in kicking your habits, and out of all the units sold this is the only one that has had an issue, but I guess it does mean that there is potential for major injury from the use of one of these units... As such, if I was a smoker, I certainly wouldn't think twice about paying extra for a known 'brand' unit, rather then a few dollars for a cheap chinese import.
Read the article here and discuss.

I don't recommend tobacco vaporizers for breaking the habit--same motion, same shape of device, same high; doesn't make sense to me. I know a few who used it to quit effectively though. Either way, they are much healthier than cigarettes.oh shit! I've always been curious about these things since really they do the same thing as the gum or patch but b/c you actually act like your smoking it makes it feel more "natural"? Wouldn't it actually make the habit harder the quit?

That's interesting. I agree that it wouldn't help to break habits at all. lol
Luckily ever since I was a kid my parents had been telling me smoking was terrible etc. It caught on I guess because I'm kind of scared of ever trying a cigarette.
I don't really see the appeal of inhaling smoke.

None of the anti smoking adds, products you name it work besides one book that ive seen work, its a discussing filthy habit and your parents were right. That being said im too lazy read the book so I will enjoy my filthy habit.
Keeping on topic though that's pretty crazy I always wanted to try a electronic cigarette just for the feeling of smoking where ever the hell I feel. Guess that's out of the question I rather destroy my lungs then my face...

Cigarettes are bad for your health. Not matter if they are electric or any other type. Just don't smoke.
Here's me thinking they're a cure for gout! Geez!

I never smoked. My dad did when I was little. Up until I was maybe 12, then he quit after his brother died due to heart failure. He smoked since he was 10. For like 30 years of his life. Took losing his brother (who also smoked) to quit.

they are similar to cigarettes and i doubt they will help in breaking the habit.
Plus points about tobacco vaporizer is the ability hide a puff or two in a none smoking area etc, and it is much cleaner without the need of an ash tray

Thats easy for those who currently don't smoke but for those who do not as easy as it sounds.

I've also tried Nicorette gum but after 3 minutes of chewing it starts to take horrible and dries up your mouth.
All these products are useless. Back in the day people were able to quit without all this nonsense on the market.

That's the idea. You can continue with the habbit, you can still get the nicotine, but you get rid of the other 10,000 harmful chemicals found in real cigarettes. You're supposed to lower the nicotine concentration in the filters as you go along to eventually quit.
They didn't work for me though. I tried two different ones and at first they were okay but I think that was because the mindset of "use this instead of real ones" was still strong. I was down to 1 cig a day then it just rose up again because these just don't do the job. Even if they worked really well, you can't change the fact you look like an absolute twat outside a club with one of these.

Electric cigarettes are absolute shit. I tried them while quitting and they didn't do anything for me. It didn't diminish my cravings, and it absolutely did not feel like I was smoking.

yeah. nicorette gum stinks, the best way to quit is to totally stop instead of taking substitutes. Works best, these substitutes just plainly inform you how great smoking is and make you miss it even more

I quit after about 12 years of smoking going cold turkey. Thing is, I have not touched it in about 3 years and its STILL the first thing I think of when I get really stressed out, like I want to buy a pack right then and there, but I manage to distract myself from going to the store and never do. The fact the mental issue still pops up I think is the scariest. I hate the smell of cigarettes as well, so that makes it easier to keep saying no. I thought the electric cigs were a great idea when I first saw them being available everywhere, guess I shouldn't be surprised a guy nearly lost his face to one though, everything is out to get ya!
yeah, this is how it works because there is an established reward path in your brain on smoking already. It will take a pretty long time before you will stop getting that.
This is the hardest thing i guess, i have loads of friends that quit for a year or two but returned to smoking when they broke up, sudden increase in workload etc.
