I average between £100-150 a month using my iphone4s. Which is something like 160$-240$ a month
You are either getting ripped off or you don't know how to use your phone properly.

I would say you should get a My-10 feature on your plan. I can't survive without it.
They're not far, but it's still long distance. I'm from Hamilton, and it's long distance to both Toronto and London. Brantford too, etc. Sometimes it's even long distance if it's the same area code (so stupid).
The best thing would be to ask rogers about how they charge you on long distance. They'd be able to tell you better than anyone else.
You can also get a $5 add-on which gives you 1000 LD minutes (canada-wide only) per month. These minutes still use up your regular minutes, so if you used up 200 minutes of LD, it would still deduct 200 minutes off your regular phone time, as well as 200 off your allocated 1000 LD minutes.
If it deducted 200 minutes off my regular phone time, then I would go over and be charged again because I only have 100 minutes outgoing.
I don't understand this shit, absolutely ridiculous. On the bright side, I have free incoming from anywhere in the world but that's cancelled once I'm not in my home area. :|
In Canada, we get charged for long distance even with being only 5 mins away from our own city.Dang you guys have some expensive phone bills o.o
But nope, you only get charged long distance if you're calling to somewhere out of the country~ Call cards are pretty cheap iirc!

I pay $10-$20 a month depending on how often I use my phone.
Same here! When using a cellphone, there's a fixed rate for landlines and another fixed rate for calling cellphones. And that's for anywhere in the entire country. My unlimited data service is $15 per month. Over here, we have the pay-as-you-go method, so for calls, you can credit your account whenever necessary. It's not a monthly thing. It's MUCH less confusing than everything I've read so far from the other posters

Phone companies over there are ripping people off like mad.
Who is your plan with? I've been looking for an exclusively unlimited data plan, but all the ones I can find are stupid expensive.

If you and the people you're trying to call have an iphone or android device, download Viber. It's an app that lets you call and message other people that have the app for free, doesn't matter where they're located. So all you have to pay is the data charges.
How much data does that eat up? I don't have a texting plan and a not very large data plan so... looking for alternatives xD

It also depends what provider you use. My friend uses Mobilicity and pays $44 a month (including taxes) for unlimited talk, text, and data. And she can talk/text to anywhere in Canada AND the US, which is crazy. I used to spend SO much money calling/texting the US. Then again, I've heard from some people that Mobilicity has terrible coverage. Wind has pretty much the same thing, but I've heard from some people that 70% of the time, they can't even get service.

I'm O2 been with 'em for years
I used to pay 10 pounds a month for 500 free texts and then spend 8 on a bolt on that gave me 50 minutes.
Then O2 randomly text me with that offer and I signed up for it.
