Is my account in danger?

There was this user selling a mix of buyable and unbuyable books... heaps of them. Probably over 1000. All the wishlists said "clearing sdb 1np" I started offering 200-400k on a few, and I got 4 of the lots (out of like over 50 lots in total). After this person kept on putting up more and more lots, I started to get a bit suspicious. I had already checked their lookup and they were like 57 months. But when I looked closer, I saw their huge gallery that was called books or something. It was empty.

I think someone got into their account somehow and was selling those things for less than what they were worth... and then I checked back on their lookup 5 minutes later and it was "disabled". I think they probably got frozen.

Is my account in any danger of being frozen for buying from them? If so, what are my chances?

Not what I wanted to hear.

Is there anything I can do to save myself? Once I started getting suspicious, I stopped offering. And I've segregated all the items out of my gallery (what i bought them for) and they're sitting in my shop unpriced.

It doesn't seem fair that you can get frozen for doing nothing wrong but trading with the wrong person...how the hell are you supposed to know if someone's legit or not? They had an old account, and a draik. They seemed okay.

It's possible that TNT had disabled the account, or the Owner/CG'er/Claimist had deleted it themselves. If you do get frozen, I'd make another account or log into a side and send a ticket explaining the issue in detail and you might be let off. Sometimes TNT is a bit pricky when it comes to letting people off and having their accounts unfrozen. But it's a half-half chance that your account will either be frozen, or kept of it's degree. I can't say much because I haven't exactly went through the situation myself, but I've seen plenty of situations or at least heard of many situations revolving around the same issue. To be honest, it's a pretty common issue that's going around, so I'd have to say that TNT understands some of them depending on the degree of the current account, and how the person acts toward them overall.

If you don't sell them and just keep them in your SDB or create trade lots for them (but don't sell them) then submit a ticket to TNT explaining what happened you might get away with it and they might just return the books if it's found that the original owner was hacked.

Nothing much to do, I agree with Waser. If I were you, I would just put them into SDB and submit a ticket. Nothing much you can do. That's why you always have to be careful with those 1NP trades, giveaways etc.

I'd sell them for profit, you didn't do anything wrong. If they freeze you or something send a ticket.

Most people should realise by now that TNT can and will freeze for pretty much anything even if it wasn't intended. That includes profiting from somebody else's account being compromised even if you didn't know about it.

If you don't want to stuff them in your SDB and are paranoid, you could discard/donate them. And also, warn the public to make you look more legit. I've seen a few boards like that up before.

^^^^^^^^^This. This was perfectly stated Waser.

TNT is a group of paranoid hacks that is ice happy. You could be all, "Tralallaalalala. OH LOOK. A CHEAP LAB MAP PIECE IN THE SHOP WIZARD. =D"...ten minutes later..."WTF. WHY DID I GET ICED?"

So, really it just depends on how lucky you are. I'd definitely not sell the books. At least not right off. SDB them, print screen a few screenies of the books in case you need to submit a ticket. And definitely don't forget the username you bought them from. If you happened to screenshot their user, that would be fortunate in case you need to submit a ticket. I hope they don't get you. Good luck. :3

My account's still up, so I'm thinking I might be okay... if TNT was gonna freeze me they probably would have done it by now, wouldn't they?

And I know a TCer that bought at least 2 lots (they put them up in their trades straight away) and they're still there too.

Well, maybe hold off on trying to sell them. Just in case. Dumping them would probably look suspicious. I'm sure you'll be okay though.

Yeah, last year I had an account frozen because I bought a draik egg from a person that got their account disabled three days after. I was promptly frozen as well. I sent it a few tickets, and got nothing from it. I hadn't even used the egg yet.
