The website One red paperclip was created by Kyle MacDonald, a Canadian blogger who bartered his way from a single red paperclip to a house in a series of online trades over the course of a year. MacDonald was inspired by the childhood game Bigger, Better, and the site received a considerable amount of notice for tracking the transactions. "A lot of people have been asking how I've stirred up so much publicity around the project, and my simple answer is: 'I have no idea'", he told the BBC.

I've read this story many times, but honestly, he got got lucky as hell. Most of the items he traded were obviously items of way lower value than what he got for them.

    Ultimate trader indeed.

Unfortunately I don't think it's the kind of story that is going to be replicated many times.

Wasn't there a 16 year old mexican kid who got himself a lambo by doing pretty much the same thing?

    A Porsche isn't bad either.

But then, you look at the facts. Only two people out of however many people have lived on Earth have been that successful. Those two people are extremely lucky.

Yes there was... what they didn't tell you that once he hit the $5,000 threshold he started trafficking drugs for the cartels as well.

I see people on the tp try to replicate these "rag to riches" trades all the time. So far, havent seen anything worth mention. As for these two guys, really lucky is all i can say
