What are the best antivirus and firewall software? I mean that it doesnt lagg your computer extremely a lot but is still good. Some people say norton and some say mcafee... so which one is better?

None :p Like Trevor said KASPERSKY is proven 93 % more effective then norton and 91%better than mcafee. AS for firewall ZONEALARM or SYGATE (Iprefer zonealarm though...)

I use McAfee. they are always a day faster on virus updates.
As for ZoneAlarm Nice but well know problems on securty.

Der zitten een paar gaten sommige poorten. 1117 en er was nog een.

I think the best firewall is a router in combination with a self made proxy server.
A very old pc can do the trick. I used once a 4/86 and it worked fine. No speed loss, well until one day my room was full of smoke. (No I don't do drugs)

I prefer Outpost as a firewall, AVG is pretty low on resources as AV's go

remember there's a lot more to security than just an AV and FW - you also need anti-spyware and adware stuff (spybot S&D, and lavasoft's Ad-Aware good additions to your security suite)

I agree with Svenne that using a cheap box as an internet server is pretty good idea - essentially making your own firewall router - it's your best defense against a ddos - but not appropriate to everyone - if you've only got one pc a personal firewall should suffice.

On a "secondhand market" ( Where they sell used stuf) you can easely find a very cheap pc. It just hase to have the posibillity to run win95 or win98. If you still know you DOS command :) you even don't need a windows.

we're a bit off topic, but I would put Linux on there since there are so many cool network analysis tools that allow you to check what's going on (and it's more stable LOL)
(you can actually find builds that are designed just for doing this)

Noob, Kaspersky won't lag if you have real-ti'me protection disabled. Jaf, Blackice is a poor exbecausee for a firewall..and really, linux and dos are no comparison
