The woodland Koi looks like the human tree men they show in documentaries, not a good colour at all IMO.

Seeing as this is what some of the older Neopets used to look like, I don't think we have much room to complain. All things considered, I think Woodland Koi looks just fine.

Please don't use "they were worse a long time ago" as an excuse to give poor design a pass.
Woodland Koi doesn't really work at the conceptual level, just because it's a fish and I don't see much point in making it look like tree wood. If they'd wanted to do it right, they should've given it a much lighter color so it was more reminiscent of driftwood, and not overdone it by ..squidgying..up the whisker things. They put too much onto this one and it looks cluttered, and the color scheme makes me think of nothing so much as what happens when you step in pond scum.
As far as eventide goes, eh, the color's the same on every critter, and I never really hated it all that much. I think it's bland but it's not ugly.

If that quiggle looking thing existed now, it would easily be my favorite pet.

I would get one and name it NYERR and be the envy of all Neopians.

Well I guess my point is at least they're keeping things up to date and continuing to give us new colors and whatnot. Neo has come a long way from what it used to be, and if we're not going to appreciate the things they're doing then maybe they should just leave everything as is for awhile. I seriously doubt someone simply threw together the design for Woodland Koi in an hour or something, like "eh who cares". Multiple artists probably are charged with the job of pouring over something like that. They put effort into it - you can't expect every pet and recolor they make to be a big hit. The point is that they're trying, i.e. they care about the us. I say, APPRECIATE.

Haha, it is actually a Quiggle. Except I guess back then they were called Frogstomps; a pretty ballin name if you ask me. There are a few more ridiculously plain pet designs in addition to that one from way back.

You seem to think that critiquing an offered design is not acceptable if someone makes the effort in the first place. This is the sort of mindset that leads to stagnation in one's artistic development and is very lazy. At no point did I suggest this design was thrown together, but it has too much happening in it and while it's a nicely rendered image of too much happening, that does not change the fact that there's too much happening.

I suppose you make a good point. What's an opinion if it goes unheard anyway.

and that Quiggle is just too cute!
Haha who knows. Maybe not so much bad design but bad, like immoral. Humans as pets? Sounds like slavery. P: How many neopians do you suppose actually kept their Macy Gray fed?

Plus rep for that museum really was a fun read for a neo uc fan! If the pets were unconverted neo could be making such beutiful colors. But now they are seriously plain and/or just super ugly.

Hey thanks; I agree. Brings back good memories from all the accounts I used so long ago. Before Boris and Rukis and Ogrins ever existed.
