I recently heard about the newest Pokemon spin-off, Pokemon: Conquest.

The player, accompanied by an Eevee, travels throughout the Ransei Region befriending Pokémon and battling Warlords and Warlord Leaders to conquer the region and unite it as one nation; Warlords and Warlord Leaders can join the player's party, allowing the player access to more Pokémon. The gameplay is turn-based strategy, with different Pokémon being capable of different attacks and means of movement. Warlords also have unique battle-changing powers that boost their Pokémon's powers. The various Warlords and Warlord Leaders are named after figures in Japanese history, with the game's Nobunaga being a take on the real Oda Nobunaga via the Wikipedia page

And like the title says have you played it? If so how did you like it. I was thinking about getting it after I hear more about it.

Because I can't right now? I don't exactly have the cash to spend on games right now.

Ah yes, money, I totally forgot. I haven't had any to spare on miscellaneous items in a while as well.

If everyone stole games like this, they wouldn't be developed in the first place.

Not true, I'd pirate it, but once I have the funds I'd buy a copy. But alas, I don't like playing handheld games on the computer so I'm waiting till I have cash to burn.

I kinda understand the game, but I'm a bit wary of it as I've never played any other pokemon game besides the ones like SoulSilver/black/firered (no pokemon rumble or anything) The only other RPG/strategy/turn-based game I've played is Fire Emblem and a Final Fantasy one (that I lost when I got like 5minutes into the game)

What exactly do you mean? (I've never played Final Fantasy before [even though I had one a while back, I lost it] )

The turned based style pretty much. I would recommend it. It's fairly entertaining, enough for the cost of it.

Ehhh... Downloading a copy of something =/= stealing, and the game has the word 'Pokemon' in it, so it's not like a couple of pirates are going to make the company go bankrupt :p and if you weren't going to buy it in the first place, then it's not like they were going to get any money from you anyways
But hehehe, I'll have to check it out sometime! Not sure why, but it reminds me of this fangame from back in 2009 called Pokemon Spirit Chronicles (minus the whole Pokemon weapon fusion thing they had going on~ http://pokejrpgproject.blogspot.co.uk/ )! So it'll be cool to see how many ideas Reggie stole from them as well~ ^^

I'm thinking about it, I'm also kind of wary about wandering away from the average Pokemon games (Fire Red, Heart Gold, Black, etc.)

People like being self-righteous white knights. Plus with the amount of propaganda that's spewed out from the MPAA and RIAA, its not surprising that people instantly think that.

If someone has the money to buy an acekard, they have the money to buy at least one of the hundreds of games they're pirating. Video games can be really fucking expensive to develop.

Video game and film/music piracy are entirely different beasts. It's presumptuous to assume I 'instantly' think that video game piracy is immoral due to the RIAA or MPAA.

The main campaign is fun, however your pokemon don't reallly carry over to the side stories after you are done with the main story line. Although sometimes the npcs you recruit do show up in the side stories, and you get to use them, but the only thing that is really retained is the pokemon evolutionary state.

The side stories arn't really that great though. At least 2 of them are the equivalent of playing the main campaign over a 2nd time either with a different character or a harder difficulty. The others involve conquests on a smaller scale. For example, you have to conquer 3 other towns, instead of the entire map.

You really shouldn't get new games on your acekard. If nintendo sees that Pokemon games are not selling as highly as they expected, they will be discouraged from releasing more of them.

That being said, I also have an acekard. Rule of thumb for me is to DL games that cannot be found on shelves anymore (JUMP Ultimate Stars, Chinatown Wars, Advance Wars DS 1, Metal Slug DS).
Considering the fact that game companies do not get money from the sale of "used" games, I personally see no harm.

Discontinuing pokemon games would be suicide for them.

But not releasing any spin-off games wouldn't be.
